gabrielcsapo··on Malleable software = solid bases and custom code
This is awesome, I have been working on some home software for my family and have a similar homegrown setup! Very cool to see this and ideas in this direction.
gabrielcsapo··on It used to be hard
I think the hard problems are still hard.

I think the problems used to be easy and here we are.

gabrielcsapo··on Rendering the Sky, Sunsets, and Planets
Incredible personal website, great post. Super awesome content!
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Three new Kitten TTS models – smallest less than 25MB
that would be awesome, I was using pockettts then I had to run it through whisper to get the accurate alignment. Not super productive for realtime work.
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Three new Kitten TTS models – smallest less than 25MB
Working on a reader and server that use pockettts to turn epubs into audio books https://github.com/gabrielcsapo/compendus shows a virtual scroller for the text and audio
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Three new Kitten TTS models – smallest less than 25MB
are there plans to output text alignment?
gabrielcsapo··on OpenRocket
Have you seen https://store.steampowered.com/app/2060160/The_Farmer_Was_Re...? It is not a drone simulator more like a problem solving game using a drone.
gabrielcsapo··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2025)
completely offline RAG personal assistant app (tasks, notes, location data, health data) bifurcated by context (e.g. work, personal, project-a) a corpus of knowledge.
gabrielcsapo··on Stimulation Clicker
I really enjoyed the animation for seeing how much each button press was worth

setInterval(() => { document.querySelector('.main-btn-wrapper button').click() }, 10)

helped have me save my trackpad

gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Srcbook – A TypeScript notebook for rapid prototyping
Really awesome to see this stuff continued to be worked on. I had a small project I worked on almost a decade ago https://github.com/gabrielcsapo/node-notebook, things have gotten so much better.
gabrielcsapo··on Apple’s all-new iCloud for Windows app, now available in the Microsoft Store
The ios 13 features and even ios 12 show that Apple has continually made sharing and photo streams better. I think it is worth it and you can even share photo streams via urls to people that don't have ios. _I know multiple platforms have this already, just pointing out that Apple is really interested in making this experience a good one_
gabrielcsapo··on Apple’s all-new iCloud for Windows app, now available in the Microsoft Store
I have my parents and siblings on my iCloud family with 1tb and we have yet to use 60% of the total space. This is with backups turned on and photos as well. I think it is worth the money.
gabrielcsapo··on Desktop Neo – rethinking the desktop interface for productivity
I think the best designs are iterative. I would agree, things are very familiar, but that is how most things gain momentum. I would honestly use this over what I have now, because things seem way more obvious to what I need to do. They are very context aware in which existing OSes are not
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Mochi – Make notes with markdown, study them with spaced repetition
Looks great! Trying it out when I get home. Saw this and had to comment https://github.com/enyojs/mochi. I miss webos.
gabrielcsapo··on 24-core CPU and I can’t type an email
Mo memory, mo problems.
gabrielcsapo··on I became CEO at 20. Here's what I learned
Really interesting concept, the site looks almost identical to what I would expect form stripe.
gabrielcsapo··on Opa – An open-source, general-purpose policy engine
Came here for the expanse reference, found a really cool product awesome work!
gabrielcsapo··on Opa – An open-source, general-purpose policy engine
aha! Someone likes the expanse!
gabrielcsapo··on Asking Apple for all my data
I am working on something that hopefully can facilitate this and expand what’s possible for the user and their data. If your interested I should she something up soon https://github.com/gabrielcsapo
gabrielcsapo··on Asking Apple for all my data
I totally agree, hopefully I push something out this weekend that does this. I think we just need to rethink the storage ownership of all of these applications. Facebook, Evernote, Apple, Google, they shouldn't be querying internal data, but data that you are exposing to them. This moves the cost of read and write access to the individual which will alter the balance of power.
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Umbrella Note – Simple app for notes and journals
Easy fix might be rasterizing the first few lines to an image or doing sentiment analysis and having pictures default for the type of emotion being exemplified.
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: I wanted better offline music on the iPhone, so I made Doppler
This is gorgeous, thank you for caring about my life. purchased
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Makesite – A static site generator in 125 lines of Python
Shameless plug, I have been a little upset about how convoluted the static site offerings have been. So I have been building https://www.gabrielcsapo.com/sweeney/ in my free time. It needs a ton of work, but trying to keep it compact and 100% tested. The main source of inspiration is making static sites configurable enough for people to stop using Wordpress and making their clients lives incredible difficult. Really cool project @makesite!
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Arch Mac – pacman on macOS
If there is an open issue I can put some time into helping flesh that out.
gabrielcsapo··on DO Installer – An installer for getting apps running quickly on DigitalOcean
It might seem simple, but this person obviously put a lot of work into it. Looks good @jgh really cool!
gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Cr – Runs your tasks at maximum concurrency
This is awesome. I have been working on something similar, but added a UI to visualize the tasks and the order they ran in.

gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Spectrum – Real time color picker
This is so clean! I usually use Adobe Color (used to be called Adobe Kuler) so this is so nice to see! Any plans on being able to show more than just the dominate color?
gabrielcsapo··on Pioneer: a game of lonely space adventure
This looks awesome! The graphics remind me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Legacy which was one of my favorite games!
gabrielcsapo··on iPhone X Teardown
I think it would be easier to have a conversation that cares about human emotions and get results, than to insult others and lose perspective of those involved. The recent flak over Node COC is a extremely good example about how "having an honest conversation even if it hurts people," is extremely destructive. [1]

gabrielcsapo··on Show HN: Xmysql – One command to serve REST APIs for any MySql database
This kind of reminds me of hateoas. [1]
