It doesn't help that most of these 'metrics' are literally invented by and ran by the companies that benefit the most from said metrics. I've seen this shit at major companies before, because the c-suite loves to invent metrics that make their product look good even if it ignores reality.
What funny nonsense. This is like saying AI will replace artists because it's better than your average artist.
Software engineering is as much an artform as it is infrastructure. AI cannot approximate even a poor engineer because it cannot capture the full context of a problem to be solved.
> This is a more general version of the healthcare point. AI will generate so many new ideas and hypotheses, including for drugs and medical devices, but not only. Become a tester. Test new battery designs, new educational techniques, or new methods of conserving valued wildlife.
Like what the hell does this passage even mean? We're six years into the increasing AI psychosis among companies and you would think if it was good for ideas and hypothesis we would see them by now. Instead what we see is something incredibly incestuous as AI nonsense infects every sector whether or not it's actually needed. And in the realm where creativity flourishes I can't think of a single game that actively benefitted from the usage of AI.
It's one of the (many) reasons why I immediately moved out of the state when I had a chance. There's only so much that can be done when a lot of the states politics and environment is wholly self-destructive.
It's incredibly easy to make these arguments about how it's good to replace humans until it comes around to you.
You could make the argument that it discourages them from making the effort, but they're still getting paid and supported by my tax dollars and so should do their damn job.
This isn't really a statement on Boudin did or did not do since I don't have that knowledge but rather from separate experience seeing law enforcement shit itself during other elections.
I believe as a cis white man myself I am uniquely qualified to say everything that you stated here is bullshit. It's just pure propaganda pushed by people that are manipulating you into working longer for less. Even under the 'pro-cis white male' government things have materially gotten far worse objectively.
Frankly I fully expect people to get even angrier once they become unable to meet the bills and companies still tout the whole AI line.
Your mistake is assuming it's a discount, when it's not. For example, Safeway near me charges exorbitant prices for goods which are anywhere from 30-50% lower in the app. What they're doing is the same as your average dark pattern, you're only getting the real price using the app otherwise they charge a no-app fee. And even then you can't tell what the real price is supposed to be, because the app will tailor discounts to your shopping behavior.
Shoppers can and have noticed the price discrepancy [1] which is why this legislation is happening in the first place. If the price isn't the price then the whole basis of capitalism and consumer choice falls apart because there's no way to make a proper determination if Store A is cheaper than Store B.

The wealthy have been manufacturing these issues for decades now by buying up the entire media apparatus and gutting systems to the bone so that they can squeeze out a bit more blood to drink.
Well, given that people are behaving more and more violently towards said fat cats I think it's clear we're starting to reach a breaking point and people are caring. It wasn't too long ago that I saw people cheering on LinkedIn when that healthcare CEO got got, so if people are willing to put their professional profiles at risk you have to imagine it's far worse behind closed doors.
Personally I really dislike living in interesting times and greatly prefer advocating against corruption rather than letting things slide until they get a lot worse.
I think it worked out really well even though it increased the administrative overhead. We were always able to quickly revert behavior without needing to push code and it let us gradually shrink a lot of the legacy features we had on the project.
