fxfan··on Why Markdown Sucks (2016)
Sure.

I wasn't counting HTML's ol tag, that's not fair :)

1. Nissan 2. Tesla 3. BYD

To (god forbid!) remove Tesla, you have to write

1. Nissan 2. BYD

Now generate a diff:

  -- 2. Tesla --
  -- 3. BYD --
  ++ 2. BYD   --
Ideally the diff should be:

  -- <some marker> Tesla --
fxfan··on Why Markdown Sucks (2016)
Neither markdown nor any of the other light weight marktup languages mentioned here (so far and likely till expiry) can do numbered lists ;)
fxfan··on Vim.wasm
is this a common key binding? I've seen it before and it makes a lot of sense but I'm wondering if I will run into issues. I don't want to disrupt my flow and muscle memory and later regret it.
fxfan··on Rust's 2019 Roadmap
rust 100% treats windows as first class, if anything, I vaguely recall being dosappointed about something available in Windows and not on my Linux machine.

also, there are now alternative crate registering.

fxfan··on Rust's 2019 Roadmap
look up Microsoft research Phoenix.
fxfan··on Apple Face-Recognition Blamed by New York Teen for False Arrest
The publicity is not kids fault, its engadget's and media's. They want eyeballs. Anyone with the most basic legal knowledge knows that's not how damages work and he won't even get a million.
fxfan··on Ask HN: What email client do you use?
for productivity- outlook, hands down.
fxfan··on Generate Hacker News Comments from Titles
second paragraph sounds like an hncynic comment with "comment" in the title.
fxfan··on Minetime.ai – A Calendar for the 21st Century
written using "modern web technology".
fxfan··on Qualcomm and Apple agree to drop all litigation
Only Information technology. Otherwise wallstreet is pretty good. They are also good with pure hardware. They don't get software though
fxfan··on Bosque Programming Language
Technical discussion is usually still leagues better on reddit than here
fxfan··on Bosque Programming Language
I don't mind you being offended, I was talking to the creator.
fxfan··on Open-plan offices reduce face-to-face interactions (2018)
I absolutely detest open offices but what' with downvoting disagreeing opinions? This comment was gray when I typed this comment
fxfan··on Fluent 1.0: a localization system for natural-sounding translations
I joke that prima face fluent is to gettext/other i18n frameworks that rust is to c/c++ , well designed and thoughtful.
fxfan··on Qualcomm and Apple agree to drop all litigation
It's stupid but the reason for that is AMZN being super overalued
fxfan··on Fucking Color Picker
7 searches for cancer in this thread as of 7:51 AM UTC. (Not including my comment)

Got me thinking about the meaning of c-word and I realized electron is a contagious form of cancer. It spreads from devs to user sure, but it is also spreading from devs to devs and more and more devs are using it. Fucking Microsoft has an enterprise product built in electron now. Who would have thought?

fxfan··on Fucking Color Picker
Slack probably does.
fxfan··on Fucking Color Picker
> It's not fancy

Excuse me, this is one of the tiniest and most useful things i've seen in my life as a budding designer.

fxfan··on Fucking Color Picker
Windows has a million color pickers, just go to chocolatey
fxfan··on Ask HN: Non-VC backed founders, any tips on growth?
They do that? That's slimy!
fxfan··on Why I Switched from Visual Studio Code to JetBrains WebStorm
If we're going to list editors, I think I have a few in mind ;)
fxfan··on VSCodium – An Open Source Visual Studio Code Without Trackers
Please don't spread FUD. Tracking makes it sound like I'm being followed. This is collecting usage-data.
fxfan··on VSCodium – An Open Source Visual Studio Code Without Trackers
Are we still on with the FUD about telemetry?

It doesn't help anybody except probably the one guy who 'Showed Microsoft'.

Telemetry helps improve products and opt-out means the product company will miss out on the behavior of power users thereby not being able to optimize their software for their usage.

fxfan··on Tea: High-Level Language and Runtime System for Automating Statistical Analysis
Great point. I wish R had an interface to a well-typed language.

I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't done anything in this regard, despite the fact that they own R.

fxfan··on Rust 1.34.0
It feels like Rust is now 'stable'. Are there any major language related things in the pipeline?
fxfan··on Google launches an end-to-end AI platform
Sorry!
fxfan··on Ripcord – A desktop chat client for Discord and Slack
That was meant as a sarcasm and I was pretty sure anybody who hates electron would get it. Sadly, no.
fxfan··on Org-Mode Is One of the Most Reasonable Markup Languages to Use for Text (2018)
I haven't tried dozens but I really really wanted to like asciidoc and rst. But they both require me to type n number of '=' for title string of length n. I confess I fail to see the utility in this kind of design.

I'm still looking (Scribble seems anything but lightweight!). Perlpod probably looks perfect but I have to see more.

Is there a markup that can do numbered lists?

fxfan··on Ripcord – A desktop chat client for Discord and Slack
For future reference to OP: the term you're looking for is "modern web technology" or "modern technology"
fxfan··on Developer Survey Results 2019
No worries! Thanks for trying to help in good faith! :)
