fwgwgwgch··on 1.1.1.1: Fast, privacy-first consumer DNS service
Good answer. Thanks.
fwgwgwgch··on Sinclair Made Dozens of Local News Anchors Recite the Same Script
Why is the part about Sinclair news reporting on "Islamic terror" and "Trump support" singled out. Do they not report on anything else at all? Or is reporting on both this stuff by default a wrong thing to do?
fwgwgwgch··on Sinclair Made Dozens of Local News Anchors Recite the Same Script
Isn't that the entire model since long of the owners of multiple local news channels? It's a running joke on reddit since so many years.
fwgwgwgch··on Amazon Takes Fresh Stab at $16B Housekeeping Industry
> the best engineers

You're living in a bubble. Lots of companies have better engineers on an average.

fwgwgwgch··on Show HN: Hipstafridge – Blockchain powered smart refrigerator
Damn. I just kickstarted my cloud powered smart refrigerator but I guess cloud is sooooo 2017.
fwgwgwgch··on 1.1.1.1: Fast, privacy-first consumer DNS service
Where have you been all my life?
fwgwgwgch··on 1.1.1.1: Fast, privacy-first consumer DNS service
AFAIK the only data is domain name, record and the incoming ip. I don't care if they store the first two.

Do you have any actual points against or are you just trying to nitpick? And do you have anything better?

fwgwgwgch··on Time to talk about why so many postgrads have poor mental health
I was referring to this :

> researcher (well supervision of people actually doing the research

You explicitly distinguished the two.

And thank you for your answers.

fwgwgwgch··on Android Studio 3.1 Stable
Yes yes I'm breaking the HN guidelines but why has this been downvoted? All I see is a logical opinion.
fwgwgwgch··on Time to talk about why so many postgrads have poor mental health
Can you explain why you made a point to say "supervise students"? From your statement it looks like there is no expectation to do original/independent research. Is that the standard practise too?
fwgwgwgch··on Time to talk about why so many postgrads have poor mental health
Interesting do tell more please.

How much of a professors life is showing that they are doing vs actually doing.

What aspects are better and what worse? And which are popularly misunderstood (like summer vacation) ?

fwgwgwgch··on APFS encrypted plaintext password found in another log file
I was planning to ditch my android for iPhone but reports like this make me worried.

Can we have a reasonable discussion without fanboy ism about what is the most secure phone right now?

(reply only if you have a security background)

fwgwgwgch··on Are Google putting mass surveillance onto London streets?
Good investigative thread. If eu does decide to break Google up (and I hope they do), hopefully it will be the data collection and advertising in one completely separate firm. Preferably android in another and rest of Google another
fwgwgwgch··on Former Walmart US CEO says Congress should consider splitting up Amazon
He's former ceo. And what's wrong with splitting up amazon? Assuming the selling business remains a single entity?

I'm not in favor of splitting, I want them taxed fairly but that's it.

fwgwgwgch··on An Update on Last Week’s Accident
I have a question- why keep ap on at all? Are they beta testing it and using metrics? Because I don't think it's the difference between someone buying a car and not.
fwgwgwgch··on Have I Been Pwned Is Now Partnering with 1Password
Troy please do it for keepass too.
fwgwgwgch··on Ask HN: What percentage of your users are using social login?
They weren't even push in a way. You had to manually pull the messages. So I don't think there's a question of opt out. :)
fwgwgwgch··on CockroachDB 2.0 Performance Makes Significant Strides
On that note how would I go about deleting all my comments without associating them with an email? (not keen on sending you an email). If you can, please delete all my comments
fwgwgwgch··on Build Systems in Sublime Text 3
Huge files are definitely bad with vim.
fwgwgwgch··on Someone bought my Twitter account 10K fake/bot followers
This is much more blatant in my country- India.

Rich no-name dudes get themselves a birthday trend (sometimes worldwide) albeit briefly. Given that Twitter has personnel manually looking at trends it shouldn't be hard for them to immediately kill that trend. I've often seen them go on for hours and started by accounts which follow the standard bot template in their bio.

Of course of this were a trend about wiki leaks twitter is quick to suppress. I know people in the US like to pick political sides but they're slowly "progressing" themselves towards 1984 by supporting this.

fwgwgwgch··on ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2018 review: The only laptop in a professional’s paradise
Lol. I know people like you in real life. They're on old thinkpad but dread buying new one.
fwgwgwgch··on FCC Authorizes SpaceX to Provide Broadband Satellite Services
Answering the only question that matters, thanks.
fwgwgwgch··on FCC Authorizes SpaceX to Provide Broadband Satellite Services
Thank you. You're the only "hacker" here among evangelicals and dreamers. Thanks for your informative comments on "hacker" news.
fwgwgwgch··on FCC Authorizes SpaceX to Provide Broadband Satellite Services
What phone is that?
fwgwgwgch··on Build Systems in Sublime Text 3
Not throwing a shade but can any vim/emacs expert user tell me stuff that st3 has but not vim/emacs?

I know st has better mouse movement.

(I doubt experts would move but asking anyway)

fwgwgwgch··on Windows chief Terry Myerson out as Microsoft reorganizes

Source or example of malicious stuff done?

fwgwgwgch··on Windows chief Terry Myerson out as Microsoft reorganizes
Jbob2000 I'm sure the "enterprise company" You work for also agrees with you that java was a failure before android was launched. What "enterprise company" is it? Is it called "please please somebody not-a-compettitor do it so it can be an example"?
fwgwgwgch··on Windows chief Terry Myerson out as Microsoft reorganizes
He was promoted after his phone failures by ballmer (to clear the timeline)
fwgwgwgch··on McConnell bill would legalize hemp as agricultural product
Informative but "current administration" != "for years"
fwgwgwgch··on McConnell bill would legalize hemp as agricultural product
> current administration

Source? Trump hasn't said a thing against hemp and sessions has no say, he's "only" the "head of law enforcement."
