fulldecent2··on I sat down with the new SEC Crypto Task Force, they are legit
Just one firsthand experience. Sharing just another crazy project idea. But this time doing it in 2025.
fulldecent2··on How to properly document a line of code
The correct link is just this comment

https://github.com/fulldecent/moodle-local_plugin_template/i...

I'm not sure why HN chopped it off

fulldecent2··on How to properly document a line of code
Show your thinking and cite your best practices.

Demonstrating best practices that you invite other people to follow requires that you properly recognize the existing best practices. And if they are conflicting then you need to say why you picked one over the other.

When you do this you set a bar for other people to join the discussion--they will need to show examples rather than asserting the color for your bike shed.

fulldecent2··on Show HN: Minimal Next.js 15 Markdown Boilerplate
Thanks for sharing. Can you say why you start with Next?

There are other tools that /just/ do Markdown builds like parceljs.org But with your approach you can actually be used to do more than that.

fulldecent2··on Package manager package manager package manager
Is Node.js's package manager package manager package manager the same as Java's FactoryFactoryFactory?
fulldecent2··on Firefox zero day: You can't leave this web page
That is a good workaround.

In Chrome/Safari, this specific bug doesn't exist.

---

I don't think this is a "big" zero day. But if non-working navigation results in someone getting scammed then it might be big for them.

fulldecent2··on Firefox zero day: You can't leave this web page
And each of them are a vulnerability.

This one here is not affected in Chrome

fulldecent2··on Firefox zero day: You can't leave this web page
You can't use the back button to leave a page
fulldecent2··on Apple says kernel vulnerability is not eligible for bounty
It is a great look! We are forwarding-thinking people that realize security happens when companies have healthy bug bounty programs.
fulldecent2··on All Snap Pixy drones are recalled for full refund
The Snapchat Pixy was an amazing drone that we loved in my family. And sad to hear that ALL of them are now recalled for fire risk.

If you missed this chapter in the drone world, Pixy was a fun yellow and very simple flying selfie machine. It had just a mode dial and a go button. My three-year-old (and anybody's) had no problem using it and having fun.

So sad to see this erased from history. And I don't know anything like it.

fulldecent2··on Apple defends Google search deal in court: 'There wasn't a valid alternative'
The valid alternative is to use a dutch auction.

Can you imagine the US Treasury saying "Um, we made a deal with Blackrock and they bought all our treasuries. It's an exclusive deal and we're not letting anyone else buy treasuries now. Oh and p.s. the price is secret."

fulldecent2··on Tell HN: Dont upload these images to iCloud as Apple will assume its Child Porn
Missing a key feature ~~ there should be 30+ images. You need to have that many to flag an account.
fulldecent2··on Tell HN: Dont upload these images to iCloud as Apple will assume its Child Porn
Because they are scanning with a different hash system.
fulldecent2··on Transmits AM radio on computers without radio transmitting hardware
Thanks for your interest. If you have any advice on other instructions or M1 optimizations, I'd love to hear.

My first thought is to synchronize effort of the 8 CPU and maybe even the 8 GPU. That's +12dB right there. We have a multithreaded implementation in the project already.

fulldecent2··on Air-FI: Generating Covert Wi-Fi Signals from Air-Gapped Computers
Just chiming in to note that "1) if your air-gapped computer has malware that can do this, you've already lost" is a problem specific to this implementation.

Other implementations exist (related work, not in 2.4G band) where it is not necessary to install malware to make measurable transmissions.

For example (shilling) https://fulldecent.github.io/system-bus-radio/ allows to broadcast just by loading a web page. And, importantly, this is an attack vector that is reasonable to execute offline (i.e. connected to a local network with HTTP services, but not the internet).

fulldecent2··on Transmits AM radio on computers without radio transmitting hardware
Thanks for sharing. You are welcome to add to the TEST-DATA file.

We just received the first field report of success with the M1 MacBook Pro here https://github.com/fulldecent/system-bus-radio/blob/master/T...

fulldecent2··on Transmits AM radio on computers without radio transmitting hardware
Excellent! Have you been able to transmit anything at all without connecting a wire over the outputs?

Or are there are popular configurations where people have something plugged in and then unwitting be open to an exfiltration attack?

fulldecent2··on Outlook: See which coworkers are sleeping with each other
Enjoy
fulldecent2··on Why we won’t be supporting Sign in with Apple
I usually uninstall apps with a 1-star review if they provide zero functionality until you provide your email address.

Apps and devices serve me, not the other way around.

fulldecent2··on Reddit started banning accounts that voted for content “against their policies”
Here is what people mean when we say we don't like Section 230. And we mean it whether or not Section 230 is actually responsible.

- Advertiser uses our trademark on Google Ads? Google makes money and has editorial control. But we can't sue them.

- Somebody posts something libelous about us on Twitter? Twitter makes serious money and has editorial control. But we can't sue them.

- Fakes on eBay? Can't stop them. eBay not liable.

If Twitter is going to have a "fact checking" department, then they also need a "retractions" department. And if retraction aren't forthcoming when reasonable, then we need a cause of action against them.

fulldecent2··on Apple announces it will switch to its own processors for future Macs
I think mentioning Linux in a VM is their way of telling you that Microsoft Windows will no longer be supported on the new hardware.
fulldecent2··on George Floyd Protest – police brutality videos on Twitter
Here is a project set up to review each of these individual reported incidents.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GeorgeFloydUnmasked/

There will need to be a lot of discussion // more than be traced using Twitter // to solve any one of these incidents.

That's why we set up a Reddit for threaded discussion. This is Don't Fuck with Cats style.

fulldecent2··on Woman makes $420k by buying insurance on flights she predicted would get delayed
> "insurance equivalent of insider trading"

Do you have a citation for that law?

---

Yes, weather matters, and people can benefit by predicting it.

fulldecent2··on Woman makes $420k by buying insurance on flights she predicted would get delayed
Woman buys insurance to make money... and somehow she is arrested.

This reminds me of the other articles -- parents pay $500k to private university so their kids can be accepted... and then somehow they are arrested.

When articles write about people being arrest, do bother to document what is the violation.

Probably the best reading of "..." nowadays is "and making money is bad, so" or "and this made somebody higher-class than them sad, so".

fulldecent2··on Amazon’s New Competitive Advantage: Putting Its Own Products First
Since Amazon.com is a free product, they need to make money in other ways such as inserting ads or adding their own brands to the top of product searches.

Now if only they were able to charge money for their services then maybe they would need to do this, or maybe they could even come up with a monthly subscription program for anybody visiting their website...

fulldecent2··on The Brave web browser is hijacking links, and inserting affiliate codes
Project plan for a new browser:

1. Copy Brave. 2. Remove everything except the part about paying monthly and supporting websites you visit

Who's with me?

fulldecent2··on A collection of videos of police brutality
Found it.

Here is what quality reporting looks like

https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/31/21276044/police-violence-...

Yes, people. Sometimes reporting takes effort, and professionals can do a better job than inexperienced people.

fulldecent2··on A collection of videos of police brutality
This site is terrible. It is a zero-effort collection of videos around one theme. And by turning these videos into copy-pasta without promoting the original sources of the video they are obscuring the and making it more difficult to fix police brutality.

A much better website would have contact information on it. And it would cite the original people that took the videos. And they could have asked those original people basic facts, such as the exact location and time of the recording.

fulldecent2··on Amazon sellers marking products as collectible to get around price gouging rules
Better approach is bundling.

Hand sanitizer on sale now. Includes a baseball card. $40.

fulldecent2··on Zero-day in Sign in with Apple
I found a customer data leak on their homepage.

Took about two years to fix. Gave me credit. No money.

I'm not surprised here.
