frumper··on Apple's requirements are about to hit creators and fans on Patreon
I’ve never had a realtor suggest an offer price or apply the slightest bit of pressure to offer more. Maybe you should find a new realtor.

I don't know if that is a good comparison. Our realtor has spent a lot of hours over the past few years showing us homes and writing up more than a few losing bids. It's not constant attention, but so far it's all unpaid.

frumper··on The 1-HR nurse visits that cost $15B to Medicare
This is fraud, not poor regulations. Insurance companies are misdiagnosing for the sole purpose of collecting more income. These people do not have these conditions. Many of these conditions are very rare and Medicare Advantage diagnosis rates are far above normal.
frumper··on The 1-HR nurse visits that cost $15B to Medicare
The $15B isn't the cost of the visits, it's the nurses adding on extra billable diagnosis to the patients to bill Medicare outside of their doctor's reviews/knowledge. This was largely just a way to collect higher payments from Medicare.

> Sixty percent of UnitedHealth home visits generated at least one new revenue-producing diagnosis of a condition no doctor was treating, the analysis showed.

Tax credits too. In 2019 you probably got a partial credit, in 2020-2022 you didn't get any federal credit. Today's M3P is now $49k with an instant credit.

And adults that want to save money can squeeze into the tiny seats. Once that catches on we can have a new junk fee for an oversized tiny seat, it can be even the new base fare even. /s

frumper··on U.S. National Debt Tops $35T for First Time
We don't borrow money to pay for social security, quite the opposite. Social Security has several trillion dollars invested in US Treasuries. It is running a 100-200 billion dollar deficit and over the next 10 years that investment will dwindle and become an actual negative on the federal budget, but that certainly isn't the case right now, nor has it ever been.

frumper··on California Gov Newsom issues executive order for removal of homeless encampments
One thing that makes comparing numbers more challenging is who is defined as homeless in the counts. I'm not sure where your Paris numbers are from, I couldn't find them in the source link. The SF numbers are a PIT count + shelter population for a specific night in January.

Paris homeless point in time count of 4,227 in January 2024 [1] France for individuals living rough 141,500 [2]

frumper··on California Gov Newsom issues executive order for removal of homeless encampments
My city took 4 years after approval and 2 grants totaling $1.5M to build four 500 sq ft tiny homes for temporary housing. One of the biggest roadblocks was where to build them. From a local article, the residents selected for these homes will be required to pay rent and keep the units in a livable condition.

So for a local government that had the money in hand, it has built 4 highly contested tiny homes after 4 years that the people moving in will have to pay rent on. This, proclaimed by the mayor, will really help get people off the streets in our city. It feels like la la land.

frumper··on Speed limiters now mandatory in all new EU cars
> Best for everyone involved to pass when it's safe. It increases safety and decreases road utilization.

How does it increase safety? Someone else will just catch up to him on that hill.

> It's much easier and safer to predict conditions for half the time when passing at +20mph then trying to predict twice as long when passing at +10mph.

If safety is your concern, then it's even easier and safer to predict conditions without passing until a passing lane opens up, or a turn out is reached for him.
