frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Non SaaS – Directory of Non SaaS Apps
Agree. However, people are allowed to price apps however they want (ie. SaaS model), but shouldn't be surprised if they are overcharging and someone else makes something similar and charges less.
frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Non SaaS – Directory of Non SaaS Apps
Thanks for letting me know. Will fix.
frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Non SaaS – Directory of Non SaaS Apps
Thanks I couldn't find any other info on it except what Chamath had said on a podcast, so I gave a link to the "fake" site since it explains the concept behind 80/90.
frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Non SaaS – Directory of Non SaaS Apps
Yes, I wasn't sure how to categorize these. This is V1 of the site and I will make adjustments based on feedback. There are no Non SaaS alternatives to those products, so I included them even though they are technically SaaS with a lifetime deal.
frequentflyeru··on Best snail mail forwarding service for digital nomads?
Does your friend want to start a mail startup and provide the service for me haha?

frequentflyeru··on Ask HN: What book changed your life in 2014?
I'd recommend The Happiness Advantage. Really changed my outlook on life for the positive.

Author also did a TED talk on the subject called "The Happy Secret To Better Work".

frequentflyeru··on Intro to Docker and how we use it at WriteLaTeX
Love the format of your presentation. I wish all web based presentations were like that.
frequentflyeru··on Peter Thiel: Uber is most ethically challenged company in Silicon Valley [video]
"The remarks attributed to me ... do not reflect my actual views and have no relation to the company's views or approach," Michael later said. "They were wrong no matter the circumstance and I regret them."
frequentflyeru··on Pawnmail: a free email host for custom domains
Accept bitcoin and I'd be glad to pay 10X the yearly hosting cost for my account.
frequentflyeru··on Meteor hits 1.0
Just started using Meteor + Telescope on my site TravelMo.re and love it so far. Really easy to use, kind of a pain in the butt to deploy.
frequentflyeru··on Ask HN: Are there any innovative startups in the porn/adult industry?
It just surprises me that mainstream brands haven't embraced advertising on porn sites. There is no reason why there couldn't be a Hulu style high end porn site with real ads from like Budweiser, Old Spice, Mountain Dew, Red Bull, Comedy Central. There might be backlash for the first company to advertise but after that I can't imagine people would care.

frequentflyeru··on Stamplay: IFTTT for developers
Agreed...
frequentflyeru··on Stamplay: IFTTT for developers
Literally was just started using Divshot and Parse to solve the problem Stamplay is solving. Just tried it and very cool. Only suggestion is change the name. Extremely hard to remember (had to bookmark it so I didn't forget it) and easy to get confused with Stamply
frequentflyeru··on How to Beat High Airfares (2011)
If you really want to beat high airfare, stop buying tickets and figure out how to accrue frequent flyer miles at the lowest rate. BoardingArea.com is a good resource. Few years back, people figured out US Mint was selling gold $1 coins at cost + free shipping, so people (myself included) bought them on their mileage earning credit card and just re-deposited the coins into the bank. Some people earned $1M+ miles for free. http://online.wsj.com/articles/SB126014168569179245

frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Upmin – An Admin Framework for Ruby on Rails
Does this work even if you don't have Devise as your authentication?
frequentflyeru··on Ask HN: High paid job with low accountability?
Run for Congress...

No accountability, don't really have to do anything, high salary, no real job requirements except age and citizenship, not a lot of work expectations, and if you are an incumbent your re-election rates are 90% for House and 91% for Senators.

Perfect fit.

frequentflyeru··on Show HN: Cotopaxi – Gear for Good
Would love to see more info about the factories, average wages, ages, etc. Looks great otherwise!
frequentflyeru··on Ask HN: What's your best startup idea that you're not going to pursue?
Github for travel planning. You can collaborate with your co-travelers on creating an itinerary but then like github you can fork other peoples completed itineraries and make them your own.
frequentflyeru··on Ask HN: What's the best host for a small site?
I use Heroku for my rails app. If the site is really small, then heroku is 100% free.

frequentflyeru··on Zero-Commission Stock Trading App RobinHood Kicks Off Private Beta
Yeah, I was a member way back in the day (like 2006 I believe). It started off as free trades, then it was only 25 free trades a month, then it moved to $4.95, then they were sold to TradeKing. Similar thing with ThinkorSwim, they were also bought out. Perhaps RobinHood's strategy is to just acquire users at a loss and then get bought out...
