Why can’t we?
frenkel··on Show HN: Show off API statistics with this new widget I built
Inspired by the book Traction, written by Gabriel Weinberg, I decided to add a widget! This is the announcement blog post with an example of the widget.

What do you think about it? I think I need to improve the design, but I'm not sure how to keep it simple and neutral.

frenkel··on Show HN: What are the best features you want to find in uptime monitoring?
The ability to see into the server/service. Like an alert when disk is almost full or cpu/mem usage is too much.
frenkel··on Show HN: Rotated snapshot backup service
Inspired by zfs.rent I built this service for all of us who don't use ZFS/BTRFS. I couldn't find any "push based" backup services in the EU that protect against removal of your backups.
frenkel··on Show HN: Discover your web API bottlenecks, usage trends, errors - Callcounter
In my previous job I had to maintain a number of APIs and always found usage of them a black box. Grepping trough logs was sub optimal and never showed the big picture. So I became a solo founder and developed a product to get these insights. Let me know what you think of it!

frenkel··on Don't Use the Mac System Ruby
I see no benefit. Why is it better than using the package manager I already use for the rest of the programs on my system?
frenkel··on Don't Use the Mac System Ruby
Part of the argument can be easily circumvented. Have a look at gem install --user and bundle config set --global path. These allow you to install and manage all your gems in your homedir without the need for sudo. I do this all the time in Linux and OpenBSD to use the system ruby.

frenkel··on OpenBSD 6.1 released
Tilaa provides images. We run some ~40 servers with OpenBSD there.
frenkel··on OpenBSD laptops
Only binary patches for base provided by a third party (M:Tier, where a number of OpenBSD developers work).

Did you run apmd with the conservative option?
frenkel··on Switching a static blog to OpenBSD's new httpd server
From a search engines point of view these are two sites with same content: https://www.tribaal.io/ and https://tribaal.io/

One should redirect to the other.

frenkel··on Switching a static blog to OpenBSD's new httpd server
Thanks for the article, I'm about to update my OpenBSD server and switch from nginx myself.

Seems like you forgot to redirect www or non-www: you have both serving the site, search engines don't like duplicate content like that.

Great idea! What kind of integration do you mean?
frenkel··on Show HN: Open-source email helpdesk
Thanks for the reply! Clean and simple is what we aim for. Maybe we will add plugin support, but the base system should work stand-alone.

Our site is still in development, we'll be sure to add screenshots! Thanks.
