forza··on OpenStreetMap: Welcome Apple
They did buy c3 technologies so they are probably up to something map related.
forza··on My US Visa got denied
With all other things being equal I wouldn't recommend Stockholm as a startup city. While taxes are high, the big issues are cost of living and quality of life. Berlin seems like a better choice and there are a number of swedish (founded) startups there like soundcloud, readmill and researchgate.
forza··on How Homakov hacked GitHub & the line of code that could have prevented it
GitHub really needs to clearify if access to private repos was compromised, for how long and if such access would be traceable.
forza··on Raspberri PI Release Announcement
While it would have been a good idea to distribute some of the devices from the US that wasn't the main problem. A common way to do a launch like this is:

1. Make people register with their e-mail adress. 2. Send order links with unique and expiring tokens in batches. 3. Process payments.

forza··on Raspberri PI Release Announcement
This is somewhat embarrassing for them, especially since they so confidently claimed to have everything under control. Kind of makes you wonder if there's any flaws in the device itself. I guess it those will have time to surface before most of us can get one though :)

Handling a launch like this isn't very hard if you don't ignore the problem.

forza··on Apple wins over Motorola in 'slide-to-unlock' ruling
Hm, I thought the prior art argument was pretty convincing the last time Apple tried this.

Unfortunately not for everyone when using "auto brightness".

forza··on Average Silicon Valley Tech Salary Passes $100,000
That kind of salary is not unheard of in Stockholm.
forza··on Salary Negotiation: Make More Money, Be More Valued
Most of the time you already have an offer i.e. your current employment.
forza··on This is why I don't give you a job
"you hire a replacement and risk being stuck with unnecessary employees in 3 years"

That is not how it works in Sweden (nor anywhere else that I know of). The replacement is hired as a temporary position until the original employee returns.

forza··on This is why I don't give you a job
I would have taught it's the opposite. If women are discriminated against because of having children, I guess the companies that doesn't discriminate against women (or even actively helps them) would get all the good ones?
forza··on This is why I don't give you a job
I don't have much sympathy for companies who doesn't invest in their employees. If you value your employees and are in it for the long run, then your biggest problem are employees leaving you not the opposite.

Otherwise you are free to hire consultants and pay a premium to the agency and (hopefully) the consultant, but don't be surprised when they leave you in six months for something better (paid).

Also fresh graduates or self educated people are loyal and relatively cheap (especially in Sweden). But then you would of course have to invest in them.

forza··on Apple's suggestions to Samsung to work-around its iPhone and iPad design patents
Of course you won't see devices like the Crunchpad[1] or the Touchbook[2] on those kinds of lists. Just like how other devices similar to later Apple products, like the Sony Vaio X505[3], Neonode N1[4] or Palm Tx[5], seems to become convienently forgotten in similar lists. But when they are actually remembered someone will come along and redefine the argument in Apples favor anyway, so what does it matter really...

Europe is not the same as America, that's correct. But if you actually look at innovation, there has been more than a few aquisition of Swedish companies. Just counting "Swedish" companies there's MySQL, Skype, C3 technologies, Marratech, Tradera and a lot of others.
forza··on Tell HN: I want to teach you web development. In 8 weeks. For free (sort of)
I don't think there's really anything unique about spamming... I was also referring to the previous posters loan idea/business model.
forza··on Tell HN: I want to teach you web development. In 8 weeks. For free (sort of)
Isn't this more of a consulting (or contracting) company? At least that's how most of the smaller (20-50 consultants and 1-5 management) companies works around here.
forza··on Norway: an Eden with wifi
"3. Youth unemployment rates are high across scandinavia."

No, there's a clear difference between Sweden/Finland and Norway/Denmark.

forza··on The Asus MacBook Air, sort of
I'm referring to the general discourse and the comments made by Jobs in regards to Android.
forza··on The Asus MacBook Air, sort of
How is it that when someone takes inspiration from an Apple product it's stealing, but when Apple does the same thing it's either genius (to the point of being one mans creation) or the importance of original invention is trivilized? Being inspired is the foundation of creating new things, as almost everything new is actually taking one or more known things and combining them. What bothers me is when you take inspiration from something, claim it's your own unique invention and try to prevent anyone else from doing something with it.

forza··on Jwz: Google's pseudonym support "obvious bullshit"
"Don't be evil" is a flawed motto to begin with and should have been something like "be good" if they were serious about it. People thinks all kinds of things, like war, are "not evil".
