Sucks I got flagged, but I'm happy someone changed the title away from the clickbait!
footlose_3815··on Claude's system prompt is over 24k tokens with tools
Maybe therein is why it rarely follows my own project prompt instructions. I tell it to give me the whole code (no snippets), and not to make up new features, and it still barfs up refactoring and "optimizations" I didn't ask for, as well as "Put this into your script" with no specifics where the snippet lives.

Single tasks that are one-and-done are great, but when working on a project, it's exhausting the amount it just doesn't listen to you.

footlose_3815··on FTC rule on unfair or deceptive fees to take effect on May 12
There's no teeth to any of these direct orders and any clever lawyer can probably argue-away all the provisions listed in the article.

footlose_3815··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
Reality is left-leaning because right-leaning is narratives created from human fear of the unknown. Their marching orders frequently come from billionaire robber barons who own too much, and want to tell the public that's OK.

If we actually swallowed the red pills, we'd all be slaves with no ownership, no education, and no rights. The same thing they frequently accuse socialism of.

footlose_3815··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
Ramping-up authoritarianism. Since he had a whole party who was shielding him from every single law he broke, even up to corrupting the supreme court. He's now completely unfettered. As far as I'm concerned, his actions frequently have no legitimacy, and he's too shortsighted that he wouldn't expect the same treatment when he leaves office if democrats grew spines.

The 2026 midterms will be essential in checking his power.

Similar with Reddit. The redesign serves you less content and more ads, and zooms everything in. There's no profit in giving you everything you want all at once.

You can also thank bad-actor nation-states like Russia and North Korea who benefit politically when they erode other countries public discourse.

Right because they got caught before and the Supreme Court and the right side of the aisle bailed him out time and time again
footlose_3815··on Whistleblower: DOGE Siphoned NLRB Case Data
No it’s malicious

They intentionally turned off logging. Only attackers and criminals do that.

footlose_3815··on CVE program faces swift end after DHS fails to renew contract [updated]
The loop is intentionally being closed and sped-up by enemies of the USA who want to exhaust the USA in every way possible.

After the infekktion of 2015, moderators of Right-leaning discussion boards started amping up their censorship. Left leaning and moderate discussion boards still tend to be more moderate, letting most discussions in and censoring less.

Most of the time, one side is trying to play an equal field, while the other shits all over it and just yells "Winning!"

Why can't we talk plainly to each other anymore? Can we not talk in loaded statements and projection?

They have valid concerns, and taking steps to minimizing those concerns is just muddying the water in favor of those using political violence against people who don't deserve it.

There's a lot of counter-intel campaigns flying around all at once, and a lot of them are curated to infect brains of people who are willing to accept fascism.

"Well, they're not completely nazis... so you're wrong for likening them to nazis!"

"Well, you've decided to shut off discussion to people opening your mind about the impending fascism. That must mean you're not fit for discussion"

footlose_3815··on Temu pulls its U.S. Google Shopping ads
You may get rid of that, but it's still Amazon. Just recently, they fuzzed all their search results further, so when you search for something, it will give you lots of stuff you didn't search for. Similar to how Facebook Marketplace does.

I think the only way to avoid disappointment is to avoid Amazon altogether. Their customer experience is extremely deceptive and engineered to make you spend the most money. From the featured searches all the way to how it charges you paid shipping instead of free at checkout.

We should all feel burned enough at this point and stop rewarding them. Bezos purchased the Washington Post for all this money, and he won't stop there.

footlose_3815··on Tunarr: Create and configure live TV channels from media on your servers
Yeah but you’re at the mercy of their contracts and their captive experience.
footlose_3815··on Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs
It's so painful watching this administration be forced to react to their preventable mistakes in-real-time with no repercussions.

One thing is throwing and seeing what sticks, but at the seat of the presidency, it seems like such an antipattern for leadership. And yet, the support is unwavering. It's exhausting.

footlose_3815··on How the Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg Got Added to the White House Signal Chat
Among all the promoted opinions that are trying to muddy the waters on the subject to make them seem innocent, there shines a beam of truth:

>It's perfectly clear that was normal and expected.

Their lack of protocol, lack of humility, and just lying about everything shows how unfit they are for leadership.

footlose_3815··on US Administration announces 34% tariffs on China, 20% on EU
You'd think that experts before this time would have considered this already, and rejected it.

Every single move by Trump towards the world economy has always been a bad one. Too bad to be mistakes.

They're not listening to the experts, and it's intentional.

footlose_3815··on My TV started playing a video in full screen by itself. What happened?
What nearby available AP could possibly have open access in 2025?

For real, I haven't seen an "Open" Wifi network that wasn't a Coffee shop or Airport in over 10 years.

Yes, it's insidious and evil, but I'd argue the attack surface is almost nonexistent in 2025.

footlose_3815··on Shared DNA in Music
Why is it "Shared DNA" if all rappers do is sample and totally rip-off music (Logos, artist names etc) before them?

The concept of "DNA" with music goes much deeper than some lucky nobody who sampled someone's life work so they could pollute it with lowest common denominator poetry and a Roland Drum Machine.

I submit that oogling over people who steal music by sampling is not that deep, and there's deeper methods of musical analysis than "This band sampled this beat, this means they're a natural progression of art".

Every example I skimmed over was some hiphop artist who ripped off music before them.

Other artists have some shame and just copy chord progressions, but rappers went so far to just completely steal parts of the song.

footlose_3815··on Buy once, use forever A directory of one-time purchase software
There's a ton of shovelware in here and there's currently no good method of filtering it out without manual comprehension. For example, there's an LLM interface that "Lets you access multiple LLM models" (https://buyoncesoftware.com/fridaygpt) But you obviously will not have access to these and it's clear self-promotion spam of over-eager people looking for exposure for their commonplace apps.
footlose_3815··on xAI has acquired X, xAI now valued at $80B
I see a parallel in him and Trump that they artificially inflate the value of the things they own and get frequently away with it because they're just rich.

We've only witnessed two months of this. Imagine four years of it.
