flawawa2··on How to encode to WebM
I might be wrong but wasn't streamingmedia.com doing some bullshit Theora vs H264 comparison before?
flawawa2··on Show HN: Pocket - my first app ever
random first second thoughts:

as i scrolled down the page, I lost the text to image connection. where does the text belong to, the image above or below.

does not show the mobile interface. or is it just a website that you call "app"?

flawawa2··on Poll: How much do you trust Google?
I have the same problem. I do "trust" Google with some of my activities (such as watching online videos on -> Youtube and sometimes using the web search -> Google) but I do not trust them in the meaning that I think they do no evil with my data.

I trust they are not abusing the data they record about me, but I do not trust in the good of harvesting and data mining said data.

flawawa2··on Game Preview: Voxatron - voxel-based, destructible environment, 8bit soundtrack
There is nothing in the gaming future that excites me more than good old voxels. That game/engine looks amazing.
flawawa2··on What Could Have Been Entering the Public Domain on January 1, 2011?
Art is created because people feel the need. Money should not be the incentive.

An example could be a fan-made translation of old works. Mashups. Redubbing of movies. Free recordings of music.

Nowadays he is busy cracking and hacking GSM. Remarkable person.

flawawa2··on What Could Have Been Entering the Public Domain on January 1, 2011?
Wrong.

People adapted and built upon other people's music, art and technology.

flawawa2··on Show HN: I wrote a script to turn a webpage into bitmap HTML. (Caution: huge)
If you are just looking to make a self-contained file that has the page as image, I would suggest you simply embed the image as base64.

I made a bitmap -> <table> once, that was pure hell like this. ;-)

flawawa2··on 17 years old, 11 startups
When I was young, I wanted to become an astronaut.
flawawa2··on Zed Shaw: Why I Don't Use Tor
Sounds like I must disregard anything he says or does because I do not like him having been trained to murder.
flawawa2··on Zed Shaw: Why I Don't Use Tor
Using Tor does not mean that you are an exit node. You have to actually set that up and it is warning you about it. Using Tor as a client only is safe and secure.

If people do bad things through your exit node, you are in danger regardless where you live. The law enforcement must be aware of what your server was doing. Its understanding varies from place to place.

flawawa2··on Zed Shaw: Why I Don't Use Tor
Title of that novel please, sounds interesting!

flawawa2··on My mom's experience with an iPad
The author might live in a country where that is not the case. In Germany for example the term "app" was not used before Apple came.
flawawa2··on VLC For Android May Arrive In Early 2011
original source is http://gigaom.com/video/vlc-for-android-coming-soon/

linked page is just a conclusion.

flawawa2··on Poll: Is your PayPal email address also your primary email address?
What reasons would that be?
flawawa2··on Unencrypted public wifi should die
I hope you do not really think that allowing others to use your internet connection will protect you from any problems arising from bad things being done with your internet connection. But please do run a Tor exit node.
flawawa2··on Your apps are watching you
That is (one reason) why I rooted and installed a firewall on my Android phone.

flawawa2··on Author Slams eBook Piracy, Son Outs Her As a Music Pirate
Then don't. You don't have to. Listen to the radio. Record the radio (in many countries that is legal). Listen to Youtube or streams. Listen to free music!
flawawa2··on I solved the embedded Chrome OS ad equation and won a Cr-48
Just finally let us Jamendo users tag the music. Maybe weigh it less than the artists' own tags.
flawawa2··on I solved the embedded Chrome OS ad equation and won a Cr-48
Well, now please make Jamendo a joy to use...
flawawa2··on 1 pixel by 5 pixel font
All I see is are tiny pixel lines. Maybe some advanced rendering technology on my monitor ruins it?
flawawa2··on TextCAPTCHA: 180 million simple logic questions
"Ten, 33, thirty five, 10 and thirty six: the 5th number is?"

10? Thirty? Thirty Six?

flawawa2··on World's largest association of pilots boycotts body scanners
But you are even further away. So actions like this might be more than what you would accomplish otherwise. If enough "executors" are annoyed and unhappy, maybe they will raise the issue to the next level. And so on.
flawawa2··on Opera holds the web's most valuable secret
I was using Opera Mini on my mobile under the assumption that they value my privacy and do not store any data. If they would start doing this, it would outrage me enough that I might potentially even go back to Firefox on my desktop.
flawawa2··on Firesheep: Easy HTTP session hijacking from within Firefox
I highly dislike the title of it. It is not HTTPS everywhere, it is "HTTPS on sites we know it is possible on".
flawawa2··on Is the Linux Desktop Dream Dead?
Linux is the best desktop OS I ever used. Sure, it required me to learn a bit about its innards and consider what I need and why, but once configured it is a flawless and relaxing experience for me.
