flangola7··on I'm convinced now that “personal LLMs” are going to be a huge thing
It is to a search engine what a search engine is to physical libraries.
flangola7··on I'm convinced now that “personal LLMs” are going to be a huge thing
There's all the ML features that have that Android and windows are still catching up to. Let me know when I can search for that paper document I took a photo of by ctrl+f for a string I remember in it.

So it has access to your mail? That's spooky

Those still throttle after a soft cap.

Like the Ukraine battle maps that get posted to Discord?
flangola7··on iPhone 15 teardown reveals software lockdown
We're living in age where military base layouts are leaked by fitness trackers. Top secret battle maps leak onto Discord video game channels. Not even as an act of spying, just by accident or carelessness. I just cannot accept that any truly massive secrets could be kept sealed for long. It's the same reason the Area 51 conspiracies are bunk.
flangola7··on Copyright liability for generative AI pivots on fair use doctrine
Do you have any evidence to back up these outlandish claims?
flangola7··on The United States of Bed Bath & Beyond
Taking on debt you don't need is a fundamental failure of personal responsibility
flangola7··on iPhone 15 teardown reveals software lockdown
This is disgusting and should be illegal. There's no morally sound justification for this.
flangola7··on iPhone 15 teardown reveals software lockdown
Do we have any evidence of that occurring practice? I've heard the theory but never seen the proof
flangola7··on Pixel 8 leak promises 7 years of OS updates
You've had 10 devices develop bloated batteries?

There has to be an environmental factor. Note 7 devices failed less consistently than that and they were eradicated from the market.

flangola7··on Pixel 8 leak promises 7 years of OS updates
Not end it? That is pretty obvious.

You're incorrect, you appear to be replying to the wrong user. Nothing in your link is relevant to what I've said.
flangola7··on Copyright liability for generative AI pivots on fair use doctrine
Existing media paradigms will not be around for very long, for better or worse. Intellectual property exists because high quality film, music, books, and more, require labor and resources to produce. Within a few years quality media of any type will be so plentiful and abundant it be as cheap as dirt.

No one today hires elite guards to protect a 50kg bag of salt... but at one time we did.

Rogan is literally the largest podcast on the Spotify. It's the definition of mainstream.
flangola7··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
Why would a password manager need $1B?

Cloud password manager functionality can be accomplished in 6U of server space. Vault files are measured in kilobytes or megabytes, millions of customers could be handled by a single SSD RAID and a fast Xeon. Infrastructure and software to make it secure, reliable, and user friendly, add expense but not 9 digits of it.

flangola7··on Hank Asher turned Americans’ private information into a business
Have never heard it in this mass data angle though.

You need to re-read my previous comment. It doesn't appear that you processed and internalized it at all.
flangola7··on Workers who cut countertops are dying of silicosis
Sorry, I'm confused, where did motorcycles come into this discussion?
flangola7··on LARPing and Violent Extremism
Once you realize many individuals see written language not as a means to share ideas and have mutual constructive discussion, but as just another weapon to achieve their ends, a lot of human interactions (especially online) make a lot more sense. It's very dangerous since many of us (myself included) instinctively assume good faith and approach conflicts as possible misunderstandings or opportunities for constructive common ground finding; but the other person (regardless of how they present themselves) isn't interested in any of that at all. They would just as quickly hit you over the head with a club.
flangola7··on Workers who cut countertops are dying of silicosis
No, the delay was artificial. Consider the effects? How about the possibility delaying i needlessly ncreases the number of humans dying?
flangola7··on An audacious plan to halt the internet's enshittification [video]
You don't need to talk down to me, I'm well aware of the encryption wars.

This is not a problem that some upstart technology can handle, it requires a societal act, and society acts through its government. Maybe you are satisfied with defeatism but I am not.

flangola7··on U.S. has world’s highest rate of children living in single-parent households (2019)
No they don't, that's baseless gibberish.
flangola7··on Texas death row inmate at mercy of supreme court, and junk science
That is in no way evidence against it being murder. Abusers do that kind of thing all the time.
flangola7··on Hank Asher turned Americans’ private information into a business
Call directing has been a practice for decades. Customers that bring in less revenue or are more likely to be a problem that consumes agent time and refund budgets get de-prioritized.
flangola7··on An audacious plan to halt the internet's enshittification [video]
They are correct though. This is something that requires a societal fix, technology is not the solution.
flangola7··on U.S. has world’s highest rate of children living in single-parent households (2019)
Morals have nothing to do with any of this
flangola7··on U.S. has world’s highest rate of children living in single-parent households (2019)
I can't possibly imagine that is accurate, and even if it was that wouldn't be ethically viable anyway.
flangola7··on The Cambridge Law Corpus: A corpus for legal AI research
This is a very narrow and America-centric viewpoint. Privacy is a codified constitutional human right in many nations, including details and edge cases addressed by legislation and/or case law.
