fireworks10··on Ryanair, Hamiltonian Cycles, and using graph theory to find cheap flights (2018)
Similarly, https://skiplagged.com surfaces potentially cheaper multi-leg flights that have a layover in your destination city.

For example if you are wanting to travel from A->B, a flight that goes A->B->C may be cheaper than A->B if A->C is a competitive route.

fireworks10··on Freight startup Flexport soars from ‘unsexy’ to $800M valuation
Congrats. I remember watching Flexport get pitched to PG and Sam Altman during open 'Office Hours' at Startup School in 2013.

Awesome. Curious, what are you using to scrape sources, and for social counts?

Also if someone enters a path other than the index nothing catches the 404. At the least you should have a redirect. :)

Cool project. We do something very similar with an internally made lander for our domain portfolio, and it works well. Lots of serious buyers contact via e-mail listed on whois too.

One thing very useful is to have analytics, perhaps you could add a feature for users to input a Google Analytics tag (UA-000000).

Side note: for anyone who actually wants to sell/buy a domain in a private transaction, I highly recommend Escrow.com as an escrow service.

fireworks10··on Show HN: The best time to visit any city
http://offpeak.io the project my team has been working on aims to solve this exact problem. We help travelers avoid peak season, and peak dates that are often associated with large business conferences.
fireworks10··on Offpeak.io helps you avoid peak season to book the cheapest vacation
Hey guys, co-founder and developer of Offpeak.io here. Let me know if I can answer any questions, and we greatly appreciate feedback.
fireworks10··on Offpeak.io helps you avoid peak season to book the cheapest vacation
Sorry about that. You're right, we need to work on our autocomplete algo and set a fallback for unavailable cities.

I will add Portland to our next batch of cities we add and message you when it's up.

Depending on the city. In a lot of major cities weekdays are more popular due to business travel.

Fixed the URL issue, thanks for alerting me of that.

Will add Tbilisi to top of the list for the next cities we add as well.

Thanks for the feedback.

We fixed the back-button issue. We currently have only 53 cities during this beta, and are aiming to add a ton more soon.

And you are right, the autocomplete algo needs a bit more work and a fallback for missing cities. We're on it.

Yes, that's the idea. :)
fireworks10··on Show HN: Offpeak.io – Know the best time to travel
The median rates displayed are based on what hotels are available right now (with some caching of course), i.e. what you would see if you did a search query for that date on Expedia.com.

Hotel pricing data is from Expedia, and chart is made with AnyChart. Hope you enjoy, and we appreciate any feedback.
fireworks10··on Mozilla could walk away from Yahoo deal and get more than $1B
Exactly. I've seen people young and old have Yahoo as their default search on their PC or phone, and they usually don't even realize it's not "Google" results.

fireworks10··on Google: End of the Online Advertising Bubble
AdWords determines your ad's AdRank by its Quality Score (expected clickthrough rate, ad relevance, and landing page experience) in addition to your cpc bid.

Perhaps you had a low quality score (below 8), so Google requested a higher CPC to compensate?

fireworks10··on Google will warn users when sites contain social engineering ads

fireworks10··on Pay your rent with a Credit or Debit card. No landlord signup required
Most major banks offer a service called 'bill pay' which does this for free, directly from your checking account. Your bank first tries to pay the receiver electronically if they are in the banks network (most utility or other major companies would likely be in-network), and if they aren't in network or if they are just a person and not a company, then the service sends them a physical check in the mail.

fireworks10··on Google AdSense Class Action Lawsuit
Is there any precedent for ToS agreements not being allowed to be "one-sided" as Google AdSense's ToS is claimed to be in this lawsuit? Or more specifically, any previous cases regarding the legality of "We can close your account for any reason & keep your account's funds" clauses?
