figomore··on SciPy builds for Python 3.12 on Windows are a minor miracle
It's possible install only the components you want from Visual Studio. I chocolatey to install only the compiler and a component needed to compile Cython codes on Windows:

``` choco install -y visualstudio2019buildtools choco install -y visualstudio2019-workload-vctools ```
I this case it's installing Visual Studio 2019.
I recommend InVesalius (multi platform).
Also for PLY and STL files.
Web app is not needed. You can write using any editor and compile locally using the typist cli.
This editor is developed with Jai language https://github.com/focus-editor/focus
figomore··on GNU Parallel, where have you been all my life?
I use GNU Parallel to render Blender videos distributed by a bunch of nodes https://github.com/tfmoraes/blender_gnu_parallel_render
figomore··on VkFFT: Vulkan/CUDA/Hip/OpenCL/Level Zero/Metal Fast Fourier Transform Library
Other option is Tinygrad [1] that has a WEBGPU backend and it works very for my case (Unet 3D).
figomore··on Which GPU(s) to Get for Deep Learning
You can use the WebGPU backend on Tinygrad. It's working well for my test with a Nvidia 960 running inference (Unet 3D). I don't know how well WebGPU is supported on AMD GPUs.
figomore··on Google abandons work to move Assistant smart speakers to Fuchsia
It’s not necessary to include every library inside the package. Flatpak packages use runtime packages like Gnome, Freedesktop and KDE. Those runtime packages already include libraries like OpenSSL,libpng, libjpeg, gtk, qt and are updated very frequently to fix the bugs in those libraries.
figomore··on ONNX runtime: Cross-platform accelerated machine learning
One option to your case is OpenVino. It's written in C++ and has Python Bindings. Also, it can be used to train new nets. You can use ONNX files with OpenVino too.
I know this framework https://github.com/webonnx/wonnx, but I’ve never used that.
figomore··on Expected changes with Dropbox for macOS
In the update process Dropbox moves the folder to the new location and creates ~/Dropbox as a symbolic link to the new location. So you cd ~/Dropbox
figomore··on Running Stable Diffusion on Your GPU with Less Than 10Gb of VRAM
Other option is to use the Openvino one (https://github.com/bes-dev/stable_diffusion.openvino). It uses CPU and runs very fast. It takes ~90s to generate an image on my Ryzen 3800X.
figomore··on Show HN: Devbox – Easy, predictable shells and containers
It seems to use [Nix](https://nixos.org). In Nix you can use [nix-shell](https://ghedam.at/15978/an-introduction-to-nix-shell) to create a shell with the packages you want. For instance, to create a new shell with Python-2.7:
``` $ nix-shell -p python27 ```

figomore··on Dicom File Format Basics
Developer here. If you are going to use in Linux, I recommend you to install it using flatpak.

I recommend InVesalius. It’s in Flathub (https://flathub.org/apps/details/br.gov.cti.invesalius)
figomore··on PipeWire: A server for Linux audio and video streams
It’s the default at Fedora too. I’ve been using it at NixOS without any problem.
figomore··on An Opinionated Guide to Xargs
I used Parallel to distribute the rendering of a little Blender animation It worked very well.

figomore··on Convert Apple NeuralHash model for CSAM Detection to ONNX
I think you need to use pytorch or tensorflow to create the network and train it. After training you export it to ONNX. I suggest you to convert from ONNX to Openvino.

figomore··on PipeWire: The Linux audio/video bus
I’m using pipewire in NixOS unstable and it’s working very well. I know they are working in integrating new pipewire configuration with Nix configuration.
