Yea, I made the mistake of asking you people for advice years ago, you think I would have leaned better than to come back ask a site fill of trolls for help.

I think he was referring to you. I came in her and politely asked a question you called me a lazy good-for-nothing because my degree is different than yours.

I am not a programmer by trade. This does not make me lazy, it makes me a school teacher, and a geek with an idea.

Nothing more nothing less. And I never said I was looking for technical people there are half a billion Indians I can hire to build something for me.

It's a partner in crime I seek young Padawan not a programmer. I honestly don't even care if the person can program "hello world" as long as I have someone to work with me to implement my ideas and to make them better.

I suppose I could go to school for another 4 years and try and learn how to program but I really have no desire to learn programming, nor do I have the time. But that far from makes me lazy.

Well, I think that the idea is the most important part of any project.

If your ideas suck then your product will suck as well. Any monkey can bang out code, if there is not a good idea behind it then it's just a bunch of useless text on a screen. A person has to have a vision.

I am not a programmer, It's not my trade, however, I don't think that you have to sleep with CSS3 book in order to have a revolutionary idea. Not to mention I am not asking anyone for anything, and I am not offering anyone anything. Outsourcing is cheap these days so finding a person to build it is not a problem for me; the problem is I doubt myself and I doubt my ideas. I think I have an awesome idea, yet I don't completely trust my own judgement enough to sink my life savings into.

Which is why I need a partner. That is all I was getting at. I am not looking to throw an idea at someone and say "Build it while I sit on the couch and throw out ideas like our friend above suggested."

Well, lately I have been working on a "next-gen" social news website. I have done a lot of research over the last year or so into what is wrong with social news and what can be done about it.

I started out saying to myself "I wish Reddit had this, or I wish Digg could do this... I wish, I wish, I wish" until I decided that I would fix it myself. "Digg is like so last year"

If there are two things I can't live without in my life it's my RSS reader and my social news sites (Reddit primarily, but only because it uses direct links in Google Reader.I used to love the community as well but it seems to have gone down hill lately (IMHO), I rarely ever visit the actual site anymore.)

So, like I said I started doing research, reading what other thought about social news and its strengths and weaknesses and I set out to try and fix it as well as implementing a lot of my own unique ideas as well. I'm still working on it it's a constant work in progress I always getting new ideas.

Since I'm not a programmer, and i'm pretty good with Photoshop I decided to do a pretty detailed mockup of what I want my site to look like, how I want it to behave and what features I want in hopes that I can find a hacker or someone with some skills that would be willing help me take my ideas further. One of my biggest problems is I don't have someone to chat with to improve on my ideas or to offer their own to make a good idea really kick ass.

Anyhow, if anyone is interested in this kinda thing send me an email and maybe we can get these YC guys to give us some loot! :D

How about a sub-YC website that helps singles and other people get together. Help us, help you. I mean if we succeed you get paid and I get paid and we are all happy :)

I admit and I agree with one of the other posters, I WANT A partner It is hard as hell dealing with everything yourself.

I think it's a good idea.

I don't think you should write them off completely I mean the absolute worst that can happen is you waste 20 minutes filling out the application.

I would think it would be the other way around. people with no money have slower connections and can't wait the 30 minutes for yahoo's portal to open where as you can load Google pretty fast even on a 56K ( they still make those? ) connection. I call BS on this article.

I got one, I used Business Plan Pro software, pretty friggin cool if you ask me. I had no idea about how to do a business plan before but it's pretty good at guiding you threw it.

I had a really great job in the music biz when I was 20-21 but after 9/11 I converted to Islam and decided it was a good idea to quit my life and move to the Middle East to study Arabic. I had an Airline ticket, $250 bucks and enough high hopes and faith to fill the Staples Center. I had decided to go to Egypt, ( it was Syria or Egypt at the time because they were the cheapest places to go) my idea was to learn Arabic and return to the states to work as a translator ( that never happened haha ) Anyhow, my $250 bucks got me an apartment with a couple other American guys ( who were believe it or not on the same spiritual journey I was on ) for $35 bucks a month. I ended up taking some money from mom a couple times but I did it mostly on my own. Anyhow, now 2008, I married an Egyptian girl, I have a 6 Month old baby boy and a new carrier as a teacher. Not bad for leaving with 200 bucks and a couple T-shirts :)
