felixchan··on Bye Bye Craigslist
Can you open source padmapper so we can run it ourselves? That way, no matter what Craigslist does, people would still be able to use the great service.
felixchan··on Easily sync data between your mobile and web apps using Firebase and Trigger.io
Trigger.io has numerous advantages over Phonegap, some of which being setup and speed.
felixchan··on Easily sync data between your mobile and web apps using Firebase and Trigger.io
I've used Firebase a lot (lucky to be in the beta) for my web apps and trigger for my hackathon projects that i want to quickly push to app store. Great to finally see an in depth tutorial getting written about Trigger and Firebase working together!

felixchan··on Firebase (YC S11) Raises $1.1M For Real-Time App Infrastructure
Firebase has been all the hype lately. A fantastic seed round - congrats!
felixchan··on No, I won't be your technical co-founder
Here's the problem with silicon valley:

Engineers think they rule the world. But in reality, product people rule the world.

It doesn't matter if your other "non-technical" co-founder sits on his ass all day and you work your ass off...because you have to understand that one angle of perception--one simple spark of an idea--can create just as much value as your sweat work.

"Point of View is worth 80 IQ points"

When you wrote "Your are easily replaceable"...you are 100% wrong.

YOU are easily replaceable. You're just the coder who builds the thing. Once MVP is launched and the company raises funding, you could easily be replaced because I guarantee you there are thousands of engineers just as good as you.

The product guy, on the other hand, is the DNA of the company. He forms the vision, culture, management. You can't replace that.

felixchan··on Show HN: Imagine a search engine that removed top million sites from its index
How did you build this? Are you indexing the entire web yourself? Or are you using Google's index/removing the top 1 million based on domain?
felixchan··on Zerg Rush Google Easter Egg
Googlers have too much time on their hands.
felixchan··on Awesome jQuery File Upload
How does this compare to Plupload? (the industry standard)
felixchan··on Show HN: Firebase, a scalable real-time backend
I think you're thinking a little too short-term here. It seems like a jump in technology that could completely change the way people build apps.
felixchan··on Show HN: Firebase, a scalable real-time backend
This is going to revolutionize the way apps are built.
felixchan··on Faster mobile apps by bundling backend API calls - with Trestle / Trigger.io
Seems like Trigger's definateyy on a roll lately with all of this integration/ease of development and tutorials.

I haven't heard of Trestle Chain before. But I have experienced these problems with slow network on my mobile website. It's a pain, sometimes it takes a second or so to load a simple AJAX + render some HTML. Might dive deeper with Trestle and Trigger .

Anyone have any experience with Trestle/the performance?

felixchan··on Show HN: We built real MMO Asteroids
Awesome! I've been using Firebase for a while now and this further proves that it has so much potential! Every day I see more and more apps being built on it.

Hah, they mentioned the Firebase guys. They're awesome - been using them for a while now doing 'live' things. Good to hear hackathons are digging firebase.
felixchan··on Square Register
That's a horrible logo. I had no idea that was "Square" at all when just looking at the logo.
felixchan··on How to build fast HTML5 mobile apps using backbone.js, zepto.js and trigger.io
Great introduction to Backbone.js + trigger. I've used Backbone.js and trigger for one of my projects and it works really well. Didn't know about the CSS reset tip, I'm going to check that out.
