Why does this strike you as a revelation? Of course they'll get defensive when you challenge their beliefs.

Right. The cartels shifted heavily to ecstasy and methamphetamine. Some heroin too, though they can't beat the Chinese on price per dose compared to fentanyl and carfentanil. Sure many members of these cartels will be loathe to take mundane jobs but what other choice will they have? The profit margin of legal recreational drugs will be driven down somewhere to the area of alcohol and tobacco.

I disagree with your perceived loss of justice should drug use be legalized. Laws exist to protect people. Drug laws have only served to hurt nearly every person on earth when considering supply chain and tangential effects. By opening up the law to allow people to self medicate we are actually reducing harm at every step from the companies producing raw materials to the end users. To only consider a solution that outlaws the existence of an addict is inhumane, immoral, impossible, and outright delusional. To learn more about these topics and hopefully gain some empathy for addicts I suggest reading Gabor Matès "In the realm of hungry ghosts."

Their health?

You mean their life. People actually die without health care. American health care is murdering Americans for profit.

You view of trades work is romanticized. The labor is grueling for 90% of the bodies on any given site. Some days you can sit in your truck and play on your phone for 8-20 hours until you get sent back to the roach motel with 2-3 other guys to come back in 8-12 hours to do it again. Other days it's 100F, and you're standing on asphalt or concrete all day boiling in your sweat rushing through a month of labor in a couple weeks to meet the deadline. You're only rushing after two weeks of sitting on your hands because the paperwork got messed up and that precisely ordered $10k of sheeting, or brick, or wire isn't the right color so the entire plan needs to be recertified. The culture is toxic. The labor will break your body and if you don't get addicted to heroin to make it through your day you're probably an alcoholic and are probably a smoker. The guys who are making 100k+ are site engineers, masters on jobs they're there to fix, or are honestly overpaid. Most masters I know are 60-90k and would love to have a job cushy enough to sit around and complain about on the internet during the work day.

Don't forget Israel. They'll launch their nukes indiscriminately if they lose control of their region. Their nukes are also distributed around the world on submarines ready to lay waste to major cities the world over. No different than Russia, China, and the USA.
felix_nagaand··on Survival of the Richest
>99% of people of in large cities (>500k) that experience prolonged and complete food loss will perish without massive measures taken by a number of people an order of magnitude greater than those effected. The Caribbean hurricanes are an excellent case study into the realities of dealing with a near complete breakdown in government. With some not insignificant work a model could be created from the volume of data readily available from numerous providers. One could then extrapolate a number of factors to consider and model when designing a persistence plan. Those living in rural areas are more likely to weather these crises as they are less reliant on modern infrastructure for minimally viable persistence.

The terms benefit the coercive institutions more than the end user. They protect the institutions while reducing their accountability to zero. Credit monitoring companies are mafia like rackets and your blind support of them is extremely concerning.

That hardly helps. For true security devote a device purely to banking. Preferably a diskless device running an updated live CD on a security oriented distro with no rewritable storage attached connecting out over a VPN through an equally dedicated firewalled router. Then you're just left to worry about your bioses getting infected off an unpatched or 0d exploit.
