fedxc··on Apple Exclaves
I see exclaves as a significant but intermediate step. Apple is making XNU less of a liability, but they're still playing defense instead of fully embracing a microkernel architecture.

If I had to bet, exclaves will be a bridge to something bigger, either a more modular OS (like Fuchsia) or a CHERI-inspired security model where memory safety is enforced at the hardware level.

Apple is leading the pack in consumer OS security, but exclaves are a patchwork improvement rather than a total rethinking of system design. That said, this is probably the biggest security shift in mainstream OS design in the last decade, and it will take years before we see its full impact.

fedxc··on A MySQL compatible database engine written in pure Go
I always look at these implementations and go wow! But then I think, is there any real use for this?
fedxc··on Paleontologists are trying to understand why the fossil record is mostly males
The article was written in Sep 2019 while the video was uploaded Nov 2019.

I love this article because it provides scientific evidence for something I already knew or suspected: males take more risks.

I also think this video helps illustrate why fossils are mostly male: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=674IFkAj_1s

fedxc··on Trump offered to pardon Assange if he provided source for DNC emails – lawyer
I see that the discussion centers around Trump, but what would you do if you were Assange?
fedxc··on Apple engineer killed in Tesla crash had previously complained about autopilot
How can Tesla be liable for this? You should not trust software to drive your car without human intervention. I don't understand the US culture where everyone is entitled to sue everyone.
fedxc··on [dead]
Damn it, came here to say this. Web is currently showing error 503. Oopsie!
fedxc··on Spotify to Apple: Time to Play Fair
I hate to be that guy, but Apple built their own platform and they can bend the rules as they see fit.

Spotify should just quit said platform if they don't like the rules and ask their "fans" to follow them over to other platforms. I know this is not likely to happen but, oh boy, what a move. Let's all jump into the water and let the Apple platform be an Apple service ghost town.

On the other hand I do want to see Apple slapped on the hand by the European Commission and level the ground for all developers, specially indie ones.

fedxc··on VS Installer welcome image contains offensive element for Chinese
I love the following comment because it begs the question: Where do we draw the line? When do we, as a society, stop contemplating every single person special needs? When do we stop the "everyone is a snowflake" mentality?

"Very disappointing. The most stupid change ever made. I found the new color offensive to me and many i know so change it to another color".

fedxc··on Knuth: Open Letter to Condoleezza Rice (2002)
I am glad to see an American stating the following:

>If we peremptorily strike country X, why shouldn't country X have a right to do the same to us, and to our children and grandchildren in future years?

fedxc··on Show HN: Klipbook, a new online bookmarking tool
I think it's good overall. I specially like the idea of your links being public so that people can see what you are doing.

Is there a way to input links to Klipbbok externally. Like a plugin or bookmarlet?

fedxc··on Apple stopped innovating with the iPhone. You’re welcome.
It's not the first time JB apps are implemented on new iOS releases.

I.e.: MobileNotifier, CameraButtons.

I think Apple actually needs jailbreakers.
