fdanconia··on Yahoo misses profit expectations in what could be its last-ever earnings report
What it seemed like to me reading over the stories of Mark Cuban was that he realized (with the help of some frugal advisors) that he just made a ton of money on paper and didn't want to lose out transferring that into real actual dollars in the bank. It just seemed he had different goals than everyone else: everyone around him wanted to get as rich as possible, Cuban seemed to want to have as much money in his bank account as possible. Two very different things.

>and in turn, demand for storage is slowed by lack of need for storage.

Are you talking about consumer storage? Because need for enterprise storage (which I sell), is only increasing. What is decreasing is the revenue/profit per TB (naturally).

fdanconia··on Fight
I've read that bare knucke boxing has lower death rates compared to traditional boxing due to the addition of gloves.

FORCE = MASS X ACCELERATION.

The extra mass is something the skull and brain cannot take. Also, the protection of the weapon (hands) assures fights go on linger than in bare knucke boxing. There is conflicting evidence however.

fdanconia··on Why I'm walking away from one of the best jobs in academia
To further your idea, I believe there needs to be a healthy balance of both. Blanket statements, policies etc tend to raise more problems after the solve the initial problems it set out to solve.

Take my username- Fdanconia pays homage to Francisco d'ansonia, one of the protagonists from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It reminds me that I used to think "pure capitalism and no government" was an answer. Now, I believe that a healthy mix of both regulation and competition is essential to our society.

I wonder how he is profitable or expecting to be profitable. The article states that Oyo pulls in roughly $3.5M/month but has to pay 1,500 employees.

I'm almost surprised daily when I see what businesses are doing well, DSC for example. Just about a few hours research a 3 years ago (admittedly too long) and I created a wet-shaving kit that has saved me more than DSC can.

I guess if I really want to create a great business, help people be lazy and not think, only do.

fdanconia··on Housing.com CEO gives his entire stake to employees
That's what I was thinking. Albeit incredibly altruistic, the CEO's job is to steer and control the direction of the company. Most of the time that it done due to his position, but sometimes that power is wielded due shares owned in the company.

This man does not sound like he should be the CEO.

fdanconia··on Man buys $27 of bitcoin, finds they're now worth $886k
Worth $886K to whom? It's worth nothing if you can't find a buyer (a la what happened temporarily in the housing markets).
