fartattack··on Hackers are spamming businesses’ receipt printers with ‘antiwork’ manifestos
I know plenty of people who have chosen not to work forty hour weeks and make do with varying levels of money.

I have family who choose to be stay at home parents, I know working class people that own small businesses, like a caterer, and I know successful engineers who have negotiated part time roles, and contract work

These people all work, and they all get by. Working 40 hours a week is also a choice. I know people who work more than that too, because they enjoy their work (a shocking concept to the antiwork crowd I'm sure), and I've talked to gig workers who like the flexibility

These are just anecdotes but if it's the structure of the forty hour work week that you don't like, you just need some creativity, and maybe a willingness to make do with fewer material things, but you are NOT excused from the moral imperative to work if you are able bodied.

There are people who really can't work and if you can and choose not to do so, you are hurting society's ability to help those people.

fartattack··on Germany locks down unvaccinated people, as leaders plan to make shots compulsory
The article says that Germany is planning to make the shot compulsory, literally this article that these comments are ostensibly discussing, in the second paragraph, so I'm not sure where you got the idea nobody is going to be forced to get vaccinated, but the gaslighting isn't appreciated
fartattack··on BetrFS: an in-kernel file system that uses Bε trees to organize on-disk storage
Containers don't control the FS that they're written to. A container image is in the tar format and at runtime the underlying FS is defined by the host, which is why containers only run on hosts with union filesystems
fartattack··on Pixel sent to Google for replacement. They used it to post wife's nudes online
How do you "act accordingly" when you want to partake in sharing digital private documents with your wife? In order to follow that advice, you'd have to stop using smart phones entirely, and that's not really feasible today.

Sure, it's lurid in this case because it was nudes, but this could have just as easily been identity theft or something more mundane but equally wrong for Google to access.

No, this is what we have laws for. What Google did is wrong and if the person responsible cannot be criminally prosecuted, we should seek legislative changes to enable prosecution in cases like this in the future. This is not merely a matter of individuals trusting Google too much. The individuals don't have much choice; that's where the law can step in.
