In any software, you've always got old requests that haven't been filled. We're just public about it.StackOverflow has the same issue here: https://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/feature-requ...
Many top requests are 9+ years old.
Regardless of which camp you are in, we have dedicated teams focusing improving Jira performance over the coming few months.
If there is any more information you can provide around your situation, we'd love to hear it in order for us to ensure we fix your specific issue.

We are technically a UK incorporated company, headquartered and half our staff in Sydney and many of our staff and customers in the USA.
I still consider us Australian though.
Both founders still live in Australia. Roughly half our global staff are Australian.
These days with local VC funds you can get funding much easier than when we started. That said, for later rounds (>150m+ valuation, tens of millions of dollars in), you are likely to get a better deal from the USA firms.

What do you base that comment on? Love to know how we can improve (beyond the things already listed above)

In meeting with Michael, and discussing how we could work together, Michael could not be more clear that Trello's success is predicated on is breadth and its appeal to many different use-cases.
This is most clearly displayed in their inspiration page, that includes many, many use-cases:

Keeping this strength alive will be key to Trello's long-term success.Scott, CEO Atlassian
JIRA shines in areas that (a) have workflow and (b) require repeatable processes across a number of people.
Once you have 20+ people on a project, you need repeatable processes.
In cases like bug tracking, project management, customer service, help desks, HR onboarding and hundreds others you need workflow.
Trello shines in areas where you have (a) small teams or (b) require ad-hoc semi-structured data.
In small teams, even if repeatable process would help you, it's not worth the cost of setting up a system - you achieve it by social means.
Trello also has many, many use-cases where you want to start something quick, or personal. In this case it really shines, with near-zero friction to get started.

Atlassian's product range today includes unstructured (Confluence) and structured (JIRA) products.
Trello fits right in the middle. It has a myriad of use-cases[1] and is loved by the millions who use it daily.

We believe that JIRA Service Desk is the best for most use cases, and we're committed to aggressive pricing.
Let me know if I can help out at all.

Confluence provides templates for things like retros. It allows embedding of files, videos. Concurrent editing currently being rolled out.
Big thing with collaboration is ensuring things are public by default, which is not the case with Google docs and others.
You need it to be WYSIWYG for non-technical people to use, which rules out GitHub Wiki and others of that ilk.
Happy to answer any other questions about usage if you try it out.

For others reading - we have hundreds of examples like this - single person companies that have grown inside the Atlassian ecosystem.
From people like Bob Swift, who grew his company and was then acquired, to companies like Gliffy and Balsamiq Mockups who built multi-dozen person companies on the back of the Atlassian ecosystem.

What is the workflow that you use? Is it supported by JIRA today? If it is - what would need to have to happen in JIRA to be something you'd support?
We're always keen to improve.

Let us know anything specific you'd have us improve - love to know what changed over the last 10 years to make you change your mind.
For Clustering - any reason you need active/active? We have mirroring[1] which (from our chats with most of our customers) is what people prefer.

No excuse, but wanted to set expectations.
Email should be built in. Raise a support ticket with our amazing support team if any issues with that.
I'll check on README. I thought we had equivalent, but perhaps in a different place. Will have to wait until the team wakes up.
> Maybe it's intentional, but coming from GitHub a local server install of Bitbucket is just so plain
We try to be deliberate about adding features that matter. The Bitbucket server team is one of the best at Atlassian, so hopefully you're saying the lack of "right features" is the issue, not just the extra whitespace.
Thanks for taking time to add feedback. I really appreciate it & helps us make a better product.
Search is known and being worked on. FishEye should work in the interim until we do Stash native search - if not - please contact our support team.
Project areas - will get the team to dig into this more, and understand the real underlying use-case you need this. Is it search? Permissions? Discovery?
CEO of Atlassian here. Can you list the features you deem missing? I want to check them against our roadmap, as I don't believe we have many gaps, and a host of things better.
Also a reason why we're often (in my view) erroneously left off some of the unicorn lists - they only list "venture backed" companies.
Love more context on what you found jarring?
We'll be giving Greek companies leeway to pay their bills.
