It's a great idea, but no one else can use it. I don't like the fact of patenting even the frequency of a blinking led. It keeps adding constraints for competition, which is nice for Apple but I wouldn't celebrate it.
I dont want to signup if I dont know what your product does. I personally go away from sites that ask you to first sign up, then you may see what it is all about.
Am I? If you dont have a path you will be going to nowhere. You might learn things but the hard way. If you want to become serious you should try with a teacher or a career.
The Smashing Book is very complete. However I wouldnt expect to become a designer by reading a book or taking an online course, as I wouldnt expect someone to become a programmer that way.
Yes. Actually I was expecting an answer to what do YOU hackers would like to have and dont want to pay for it. For the moment this is the most voted idea but I'm still open for more input if you have other ideas.
Great idea! I'm also considering a survey engine for Mechanical Turk tasks. If you have more input, feel free to contact me. (too bad HN doesnt have private messages)
In some cases why do we use a password at all. There are many times that I register to a site to download something (a pdf in scribd, a sdk in nokia) or to see a post or a link, in any of this cases I dont care if anyone wants to log in with my username and what are the chances that someone will log in with my username just to change my age or my sex... oh no... I'd rather be exposed to that than remembering another password.
I wouldn't suspend the search of a kid quoting howstuffworks and wikipedia, specially when stating that "about a gram" times "about a volume" is not greater than 23kg.
