falleng0d··on iOS 18 is the worst software Apple has ever released
Well lion brings a few valid complaints. Now if we are to have a meaningful conversation I would avoid getting distracted on who the OP is (LionTeeth) and instead try to understand what are the concerns he brings.

- iOS 18 is glitchy and crashes frequently.

- The Photos app has a confusing design with random button placements.

- Touchscreen responsiveness is poor, often failing to register touches.

- The new Control Center is overly complicated with multiple pages.

- Navigation within the Control Center is cumbersome and unintuitive.

- The overall user experience feels disjointed and lacks cohesion.

- The operating system causes the device to overheat during gaming.

- The posters like the simplicity and design of older iOS versions.

These points and others are reiterated by multiple other users on the forum. Some users even downgraded. I would be cautious about upgrading myself given these issues so yes this deserves HN.

falleng0d··on 418 I’m a teapot
Now. I didn't know about the RFC. This is so good. I hope we can continue to advance this field with good humor, and good coffee.
falleng0d··on The American economy has left other rich countries in the dust
It's attracting a lot of investment not only from the Americans but also from outside investors. Even if most of those companies do not end up profitable, the workers that participated in the effort will have already gotten paid and the money will be absorbed by the economy.

And if it pays off some day, well there you go.

falleng0d··on X says it is closing operations in Brazil due to judge's content orders
That’s when you realize that rich people are just normal people with money.

There is no moral code that say they must act like rich people.

falleng0d··on X says it is closing operations in Brazil due to judge's content orders
The Brazilian courts specifically asks that the takedowns must be done in secret. I believe we can assume they are not being accounted for in these statistics.
falleng0d··on SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas
Lots of countries tried those and they didn’t prove to be very effective
falleng0d··on Musk Says He Will Move X and SpaceX Headquarters Out of California
I wonder if there is a chance employees would actually be in favor of that.

Considering that the high taxes also affects them and there is also the increasing criminality problem

falleng0d··on Musk Says He Will Move X and SpaceX Headquarters Out of California
> Man who hates that his trans child hates him angry

These are very strong accusations. Do you have a reference or is this just an emotional response?

falleng0d··on Silicon Valley leaders declare DEI bad and meritocracy good - but they're wrong
Care to elaborate your point? In this kind of topic there is always propaganda on both sides. Pointing the obvious is not contributing to the conversation in any way.
falleng0d··on Silicon Valley leaders declare DEI bad and meritocracy good - but they're wrong
The real reason DEI became such a toxic word is because it’s advocates are using it as justification to commit the same mistakes it ought to prevent.

Just look at what happened to the movies industry. Disney and Marvel for example explicitly discriminate against whites and males.

Instead of equal opportunity the only thing I see DEI advocates doing is targeted discrimination.

If we are going to have people decide who to discriminate against let’s end this all together and just focus on skills. It’s a fair compromise

falleng0d··on Elon's xAI chatbot says SpaceX's quiet part out loud
It's not a leak.

falleng0d··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
This is not about suppressing content. ByteDance will be able to sell the company and even profit from it.
falleng0d··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
Sorry but reciprocation is not copying. This is basic game theory. A 'tit for a tat'.
falleng0d··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
Sorry but this is about China, the bar is that low.
falleng0d··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
I hope they don't. Then I will finally give a smartphone to my kids.
falleng0d··on Biden signs TikTok bill into law, starting clock for ByteDance to divest
And they shouldn't. China has been doing that for years and it has been very bad for the western world. This is basic game theory. How about China stop being an adversary and allow US companies to settle in their country without needing a chinese owner and having its IPs stolen?
falleng0d··on 'Lavender': The AI machine directing Israel's bombing in Gaza
When you ban something like this, you are only barring the good actors
falleng0d··on Supercharging Fuel Cells with Caffeine
Of course it worked. I’ve been supercharging myself by infusing caffeine since 20 years ago. Why wouldn’t it work with fuel cels?
falleng0d··on Mounting research shows that Covid-19 significantly lowers IQ
So that’s why I feel dumber these days
falleng0d··on Show HN: Supermaven, the first code completion tool with 300k token context
You are really missing it. It's more about preventing RSI by getting the boilerplate writing out of the way than having the tool do the actual work for you.
falleng0d··on Show HN: Supermaven, the first code completion tool with 300k token context
It is working for me but I always see a window for sm-agent.exe. W10 22H2 VS Code 1.86.2
falleng0d··on Show HN: Supermaven, the first code completion tool with 300k token context
Impressed by the completion speed. It really changes everything... again.

Do you have plans to add a chat feature and IntelliJ plugin?

falleng0d··on Ask HN: Which Python type checker should I use?
Kind of hard to say. With pylance the type checking will be definitively better in vscode.

But pycharm had a lot going on to make up for it.

Just as a reference I use pycharm mainly but before sending a PR I will rely on vscode to fix typing issues.

Just use what you likes best.

falleng0d··on EU regulators reach agreement on outlines for future AI bill
Big business aside. I feel regulation is much much harder on small business and startups.

Only the already rich will have resources to keep up with the bureaucracy required to start even the smallest business in Europe.

falleng0d··on OpenAI staff threaten to quit unless board resigns
he even posted a apology: https://x.com/ilyasut/status/1726590052392956028?s=20

what the actual fuck =O

falleng0d··on Ask HN: Is anyone else bearish on OpenAI?
Yes. Or just use the api and pay for usage (but in that case It could also get more complicated since you have full control)
falleng0d··on US recommends reconsider China travel due to law enforcement / exit bans
They do the same things to their own citizens. It’s common to hear reports of people disappearing.

On China the party is not there for the people. It’s the opposite. The people are there for the party.

And everyone is expendable.

What I don’t get is why are they so obsessed with power to the point of extreme oppression when they had everything needed to naturally grow into a great country with good quality of life and nice relationships with the global community.
