faefox··on Why our website looks like an operating system
The overall look and feel is very BeOS and that's just about the highest compliment a piece of software can receive. :)
faefox··on Tesla training new FSD model with ~10x params
Sure they are. Should be ready early next year, right?
faefox··on Tesla stops taking Model S/X orders in Europe
"You can't fire me, I quit!" ;)
faefox··on Tesla Launches Ride Hailing Service in the Bay Area
"Robotaxi" branding is conspicuously absent. I guess this is just literally a Tesla-branded Uber clone for the fanboys?
faefox··on I Ported SAP to a 1976 CPU. It Wasn't That Slow
I'm sure this is interesting stuff but the obvious ChatGPT voice only distracts from your own thoughts.
faefox··on House passes Trump's signature bill
Another $3 trillion in debt from the "party of fiscal responsibility."
faefox··on If AI Lets Us Do More in Less Time–Why Not Shorten the Workweek?
Because capital has realized that as long as there are bread and circuses to distract people along with convenient targets for the less well-off to blame for their misfortune (immigrants, trans folks) they can continue to vacuum up all of the wealth and power for themselves without lifting a finger to improve the lives of those whose labor makes it all possible.
faefox··on SpaceX Starship 36 Anomaly
Although I feel like SpaceX's successes (many of which have been truly remarkable, like the booster catches) get plenty of press themselves, you make a fair point. I apologize for taking your previous comment in bad faith. :)
faefox··on SpaceX Starship 36 Anomaly
It's silly to try to pin this on media bias or Musk haters when the fact is that every Starship launched in 2025 has exploded.
faefox··on SpaceX Starship 36 Anomaly
Starship has yet to experience a successful launch in 2025.

faefox··on Show HN: Hyper – Standards-first React alternative
The Angular/Vue approach of sprinkling application logic in HTML attributes demos really well - wow, it's like magic! - but it can only end one of two ways: either it's too simple to keep up with real-world requirements so you end up implementing everything in JS anyway, or it tries to be everything to everyone and you end up with hideously convoluted and slow DSLs like the abomination that is ngFor.

Personally I think attacking the problem from the other direction and making JS more fluent at generating markup is the much more practical approach and that's why JSX won.

faefox··on Tesla Cybertruck inventory goes through the roof
It's simply not a very good product and that's before you factor in the incredible (and totally self-inflicted!) toxicity of Musk and by extension the Tesla brand as a whole. Nobody wants to be seen driving one of these things.
faefox··on Trump to Oust National Security Adviser Mike Waltz
Damn that's crazy, I heard this guy only hires the best people.
faefox··on Retailers will soon have only about 7 weeks of full inventories left
Yeah. Trump 1.0 had a lot of the same mindless flailing but I think a lot of folks were prepared to write it off as an aberration. For him to be reelected after everything (and I mean everything) shows the world that, no, it really is true that a considerable segment of the American populace will gleefully burn it all down as long as they can totally own the libs along the way.
faefox··on Retailers will soon have only about 7 weeks of full inventories left
I don't think the population at large fully appreciates just how bad things could (and most likely will) get once these pre-tariff stocks are depleted. There is no magic wand to stand up new supply chains for the gazillion products we import from China overnight or even in the next several years. This promises to be more dramatic than the COVID supply shock only this time the damage will be entirely self-inflicted and - maybe - unrecoverable.
faefox··on Retailers will soon have only about 7 weeks of full inventories left
Nothing says free-market small-government conservatism quite like telling people what they do and don't need!
faefox··on U.S. Economy Contracts at 0.3% Rate in First Quarter
> Assuming the US improves its situation, which believe it or not is oh so slightly better as a result of what's going on now.

You're right, I don't believe it. :)

faefox··on Dow Slides Another 1k Points. Nasdaq on Pace to Enter Bear Market
And yet he's brainwashed (slightly less than) half of the population into believing heart and soul that he's here to save Western civilization. By ushering in the end of American hegemony and paving the way for China and Russia. We really are living in the post-truth era.
faefox··on Dow Slides Another 1k Points. Nasdaq on Pace to Enter Bear Market
Trump really held a gun to the head of the American economy and pulled the trigger.
faefox··on Trump Tells Inner Circle That Musk Will Leave Soon
The damage to Tesla's brand is irreversible. Musk has done literally everything in his power to alienate the core EV-buying demographic and the product itself is no longer unique or even particularly competitive. Maybe tariffs can prop up Tesla's auto business for a while longer but otherwise his only hope is for the MAGA set to suddenly pull an ideological 180 on EVs.
faefox··on Tesla Recalls Every Single Cybertruck over Stainless Steel Trims Falling Off
There were still regulators left to order a recall? I guess the crack team of vandals at DOGE missed a few.
faefox··on Tesla Cybertruck deliveries on hold as trims are flying off 'bulletproof' truck
Someone described the Cybertruck's build quality as "BMW prices for a Temu truck" and y'know what, I'm not sure they're that far off.
faefox··on Canon EF and RF Lenses – All Autofocus Motors
Wait, did they reverse their stance on this again? I thought they had finally started to open the mount up to 3rd parties. Really disappointing to hear that this is not actually the case.

faefox··on iPhone Sales Drop 5% in Holiday Quarter After AI Disappoints
