factsarelolz··on Pakistani gov degrades Wikipedia connections due to blasphemy
> encyclopedia

Encyclopedias are not warped to fit a minority groups opinion like Wikipedia is. Wikipedia is a website, not a trusted source. Not sure when Wikipedia became something more than a crowdsourced opinion site.

factsarelolz··on Why So Many Tech Companies Are Laying People Off Right Now
This isn't new.

factsarelolz··on Ask HN: Why doesn't Apple allow Pro features on a iPad Pro
That's just one feature.

How are the sales, teachers, etc getting around the fact that you have to use an external Bluetooth speaker when utilizing an external monitor. Teachers and sales typically have to give lectures and presentations.

Being managed by medical professionals with no experience or training on said ventilator or enough personnel to accurate monitor the ventilators or even put the right people who actually need a ventilator and not just everyone that walked in the door.

I agree. Blows my mind that I was downvoted so hard on my factual comment. But it is HN.

Because fentanyl is way cheaper by itself. Why mix in more expensive drugs? The issue is China, full stop.

> Ban people from working if they don't take it, maybe take away any benefits too. Don't allow them to public places?

Over a one's own choice to not have a medical procedure?

Should we do the same to those whom have abortions?

Who gets to make a choice on what medical procedures a population should have? Why is it not the individuals decision?

factsarelolz··on T-Mobile says investigating data breach involving 37M accounts
I was a happy customer of T-Mobile for around 10 years. Until I moved out into the county and was forced to switch. It seems like temblor has gone down hill since acquiring sprint. But this isn't the first time something like this has happened at T-Mobile. Seems as if they have a 2-3 year cadence of data incidents.

Correct. I guess the lines are blurry for those that let Trump live rent free in their brain. Everything is Trump, even when it isn't. The PsyOp really worked.
factsarelolz··on US hits debt ceiling, prompting Treasury to take extraordinary measures
Whataboutism, bothsideism. Same thing?
factsarelolz··on US hits debt ceiling, prompting Treasury to take extraordinary measures
I'm not arguing one is better than another. Just pointing out that there has been an ongoing investigation that was publicized and directed by a Hollywood director to drum up clips, news stories and support from their supporters and to pain their enemies in bad light.

Now that the pendulum has swing the other way the other side will get their chance to blow through millions and create their own circus for their supporters.

It's kinda amazing how they don't realize that the power they seize can and will be wielded by their enemy with absolutely no remorse.

factsarelolz··on US hits debt ceiling, prompting Treasury to take extraordinary measures
> The purpose of that committee is to be a factory for clips to show on Fox News and Newsmax. I appreciate your optimism but it's unwarranted.

The democrats got their clips for CNN, MSNBC, WP, etc with their sham of an investigation complete with a Hollywood director.

Now that there's over 14,000 hours of footage being released we'll have even more clips.

factsarelolz··on Websites selling abortion pills are sharing sensitive data with Google
So which is easier? Law Enforcement going after Google for the data or LE going after the site itself for the data on customers?

Seems like it would be easier for LE to threaten a small pharmacy versus a big corp like google.

Oh it's Trump fault Liz did what she did? Nope. Liz thought she'd make a name for herself, she did, and is reaping the results of her actions.

Okay, that's a proposal. Now show where it passed and the results.
factsarelolz··on OpenAI used Kenyan workers on less than $2 per hour to make ChatGPT less toxic
Not sure why this isn't the top comment.

Sama could have provided the mental health support that employees may have needed with the 10$/hr per employee profit they were making. Sama didn't and decided that instead of losing profit by providing their employees with mental healthcare they canceled the contract.

Smells fishy.

factsarelolz··on OpenAI used Kenyan workers on less than $2 per hour to make ChatGPT less toxic
> (and the countries that copy those types of loans).

What are the other countries?

I know China is doling out these loans apart of their belt road initiative but I'm not up to speed on other countries hamstringing countries with unneeded infrastructure and billions in loans.

> People have no way of knowing where the things they buy come from

I don't know about other places and maybe I'm an outlier but I check everything for where it's produced / manufactured. Most if not all items in the US are required to have where the item was produced/manufactured. Some may say "Manufactured in the US with globally sourced material" makes it harder to pin down where each of the components originated from. Clothes and other items the country of origin is on the tag.

factsarelolz··on Republicans to pass bill in House to end telework for federal employees
I agree 100%. The level of customer service has hit the floor. I'm not sure if it can go any lower.
factsarelolz··on Republicans to pass bill in House to end telework for federal employees
It's called following through with campaign promises. I know it's scary. People voted for the people introducing this law, and those people want to see an attempt to get it passed. It's not the houses fault they don't control the senate. That's how things are supposed to work.

So you go a hour + without the ability to make phone calls or return texts? Can you dial 911 on your laptop if an emergency happens while on the way to the coffee shop? Does the coffee shop not have Wi-Fi or do you not use public Wi-Fi? How much is the additional data line for your laptop? Is it just data or voice too?

You use a touch screen and pen on something other than a nonfoldable/tablet? Interesting.

Thanks for the share.

factsarelolz··on Apple Silicon Mac’s have 2-3 times longer battery than PC laptops
Versioning is done through the package maintainers. If there is no versioning for the package it's not Apple's fault (you could argue it's brews fault for not requiring it).

If you think Brew should require versioning then open a request.

If you don't think there is enough free windows managers perhaps you should create one yourself or contribute to a non paid project to ensure your wants are addressed.

It appears your problems are with 3rd parties and not Apple.

factsarelolz··on Apple Silicon Mac’s have 2-3 times longer battery than PC laptops
I'm sorry how is Apple not allowing you? You are free to run whatever YOU want on it. Just because something YOU want isn't created, well that isn't apple or anyone else's problem. You should build what you need instead of expecting someone else to do it for you just because you demand it.
factsarelolz··on Apple Silicon Mac’s have 2-3 times longer battery than PC laptops
I can do almost anything on a Mac terminal that I can do in a Linux terminal. So to _me_ there is nothing that a dedicated Linux environment can give me that OSX can't.
