extropic-engine··on OpenBB wants to be an open source challenger to Bloomberg Terminal
what is GRAY? i tried searching for a source on this, but it wasn't terribly helpful as a search keyword
extropic-engine··on “I will slaughter you”
imagine being so bad at computers that you decide to blame curl for inventing hackers
extropic-engine··on Shitbowl: The algorithmically powered in-home physical caching platform
ok but the real question for everyone here is do y’all put your leggings in your sock drawer or with your bras/underwear
extropic-engine··on Ask HN: What if every one wears hand-gloves and a face mask for Covid-19?
these are the cdc guidelines for removing gloves safely. it's literally the simplest and most obvious thing in the world. i rarely wore gloves before this and this is what i have been doing with my gloves the entire time. why do you think this would be difficult for people?

extropic-engine··on Ask HN: Favorite note-taking software?
I actually wrote my own jrnl command as a shell one-liner:

    pushd $JRNL_DIR && git pull && echo "##### "(date) >> (date "+%Y-%m-%d.txt") && vim (date "+%Y-%m-%d.txt") && git add *.txt && git commit -m "jrnl "(date "+%Y-%m-%d.txt") && git push && popd
extropic-engine··on Why There Are No New Social Networks
There's nothing to buy... it's a bunch of servers run by individuals.
extropic-engine··on Humble Book Bundle: Unix
It's because they are selling digital items that have no intrinsic value. The likelihood that everyone will do this is low. Most people will just leave the sliders at their default values. And it's good marketing.

They actually do accept bitcoin.
extropic-engine··on MitM Attack against KeePass 2’s Update Check
I've already been slowly migrating from KeePass to https://www.passwordstore.org/ and this is just one more reason why.
extropic-engine··on Google Home
That doesn't sound like a fundamental flaw of Tor. That sounds like a fundamental flaw of broadband companies in Canada.

extropic-engine··on Elbowing JavaScript out
Her name is Amy. It's right there on every paragraph.
extropic-engine··on GNU Social, a FLOSS alternative to Twitter
Many GNU Social servers are hosted by individual users. In this case, it looks like the admin got a certificate from Let's Encrypt for "vinilox.eu", and then tried to use it on "micro.vinilox.eu". It doesn't necessarily mean that the site is not trustworthy.
extropic-engine··on Apple fans are coming to hate Apple software
That actually sounds like a legitimate strategy. I would want the device which is plugged into the wall to handle more of the heavy lifting if it means I get an extra hour of battery life.
extropic-engine··on A Two-Miles-per-Hour World: the speed that news traveled to Venice, 1500 to 1765
But the ping is terrible.
extropic-engine··on Just Got Out of Prison. Now What?
Everyone gets one free murder.
extropic-engine··on Did you buy that latte 2 hours ago? Think about leaving the coffee shop
All libraries should aspire to be more like Seattle Central Library. Good coffee, amazing architecture, fast wifi. Oh, and lots of books if you're into reading or whatever. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Central_Library
extropic-engine··on Bye, bye Adobe
I know Gimp is always referenced as the "alternative" to Photoshop but I think it still suffers from a lot of usability issues. I've found Krita to be a much better replacement: https://krita.org/
extropic-engine··on Raspberry Pi Official Case
Actually, aerodynamics are really important for buildings, especially tall ones. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_engineering

(OK, you were probably being sarcastic! But wind engineering is cool!)

extropic-engine··on Open source Nextdoor alternative?
You might be able to use something like http://librarybox.us/. You could also just host forums for your neighborhood. http://www.discourse.org/
