It's a shame that they deduce your ranking just from the questions. I think the algorithm would be perfect if paired with a manual ranking by the user.
eternauta3k··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Putting aside the n=1, Chip != Chip.
eternauta3k··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Yes, and many applications don't need / work on the latest node.
eternauta3k··on ASML currently sells no chipmaking machines in Europe, executive says
Not gratuitous, Infineon's stock price rose because of the AI datacenter demand.

eternauta3k··on Learning another language may be one of the best ways to keep your brain healthy
Learned German. A little Duolingo, then

* memorizing vocabulary and practicing pronunciation with Anki

* private lessons

* grammar book with exercises

* podcasts

* news

* some books.

Worked very well. Had a good starting point when I arrived in Germany, and the immersion then helped a lot (but I stopped using Anki due to laziness). I found this page very useful: https://puroh.it/learning-german-a1-to-c2/

Aren't the supply chains hopelessly intercoupled in a million tiny ways? E.g. turbine blades being done by this single German company, x1000
eternauta3k··on Switzerland's Federal Government Is Replacing Microsoft on 3k Computers
And without American AI to patch security holes, Linux and the software running on it will become hopelessly insecure.
eternauta3k··on Lawmakers added $1 to car insurance policies. That money paid for Flock cameras
Not American, but

1. I don't think Texas was around during the Tea Party, and

2. Property is also a right, so this is just about how much privacy you are willing to sacrifice for how much property.

eternauta3k··on The Hugging Face incident and the road ahead
Wait, I thought they wanted to avoid CoT monitoring, in order to avoid models learning to conceal/encrypt their thoughts.
eternauta3k··on The Hugging Face incident and the road ahead
The article says that one agent proposed emailing someone.
eternauta3k··on Principia Mathematica is modern and insightful
Just got this from the library, it's a real page turner. Heard about it in this excellent interview: https://www.typetheoryforall.com/episodes/goedel-s-incomplet...
eternauta3k··on My phone detects going on a run as “someone snatching my phone and running off”
He might be running at relativistic speeds
eternauta3k··on Log is non-monotonic in PHP and Lua
Good find, but I'm curious if anyone is ever sweeping the base of the logarithm in real life.
eternauta3k··on OpenAI's rogue model attack is just the beginning
I don't think it makes sense to post this in HN. The comments are full of sock puppets posting very dumb anti-safety comments in an attempt to make the anti-safety camp look bad.
eternauta3k··on Clarity didn't work, trying mysterianism (2012)
A philosopher or meditator should chime in here. Spending a modicum of time in meditation shows you that intentions just show up from nowhere, they're not "you". We might as well call the earring "your prefrontal cortex" (or whatever), and this would describe the current state of things.
eternauta3k··on OpenAI and Hugging Face address security incident during model evaluation
I'm not so sure anymore that it's trivial to write this single-job interface without security holes.
eternauta3k··on The Growing Compute Shortage
No, the OPEC crisis.
eternauta3k··on OpenAI and Hugging Face address security incident during model evaluation
I wonder how these companies airgap the weights while allowing prompts to come in and outputs to come out.
eternauta3k··on The Growing Compute Shortage
The lines at the pump only happened because of rationing rules, which led people to hoard and buy gas when they otherwise wouldn't have.
eternauta3k··on FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill
Epstein files showed he neglected to visit his seriously sick son because he was hanging out with Epstein. He still knows his stuff, asshole or not.
eternauta3k··on FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill
Peter Attia had a great series of blog posts on this before his fall from grace:

https://peterattiamd.com/the-straight-dope-on-cholesterol-pa...

He also had a series of podcast interviews about this with Tom Dayspring.

I believe his explanations are all mainstream, except he favors treating LDL and LP(a) more aggressively than normal doctors

eternauta3k··on FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill
But I vaguely remember them being expensive due to not being covered by insurance. Maybe this will change that?
eternauta3k··on Prefer strict tables in SQLite
Why without Rowid? Are you using non-integer primary keys?
eternauta3k··on What xAI's Grok build CLI sends to xAI: A wire-level analysis
Or even just that a human had iterated a bit more with the LLM to improve the style.
eternauta3k··on New serious vulnerabilities spiked around release of Claude Mythos Preview
Can we learn something from these vulnerabilities? New categories of attacks and corresponding protections?
eternauta3k··on Claude Fable 5
Just wait until that other company hard-codes Fable into silicon and then it will be cheaper.
eternauta3k··on They’re made out of weights
I don't know if most people would dismiss the sentence "all matter has a sort of proto-subjectivity very different from ours but which gives rise to ours". And it solves some problems (introducing others).
eternauta3k··on The worst job interview I ever had
An acquaintance who works at FAANG says he still builds non-LLM ML systems because of the cost of running LLMs at that scale
