estraschnov··on Launch HN: StartPlaying.Games (YC W20) – Tabletop RPGs run by pro game masters
Congrats on your launch, always great to see Bubble apps topping HN!
estraschnov··on Show HN: A directory of restaurants with links to buy gift cards to support them
Great to see a Bubble-built app! Nocode lets you do things over the course of one day
estraschnov··on YC Hackathon without writing code
Thanks! Yeah I remember! I hope all is well.
estraschnov··on YC Hackathon without writing code
This is awesome!! (disclaimer, I founded Bubble).

We've actually had a few teams at YC using Bubble, either to get in or after, once they were in the program. It's awesome as it's a great validation for our technology.

Thank you for doing the same in their hackathons!

estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Delphi has actually been an inspiration for the UX (i was a big user in 1996).
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Yes, I've been following Bret's work with a lot of interest.
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
What do you mean? Go from Bubble to code?
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Not really, as long as it’s a data driven app (and not a platform game...). About half of our paying users build startup-type, customer-facing products, while the other half is small businesses building internal management tools (like invoicing, custom CRM, etc).
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
We think so (and in fact wrote this https://blog.bubble.is/improving-computer-education-less-cod...). We’ve seen a few high schools use Bubble already, but haven’t had time to push for a more systematic approach (providing content, etc.)
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
I won't be too specific, but in the thousands of apps, and enough to support a team of 6 people (we're entirely bootstrapped).
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Yes gaming is more advanced that general purposes applications for some reasons. Let's change that :)
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
That's right. We need the permission to sync plugins code, and therefore have to ask for the whole set of permissions around repos :/
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Thanks for the kind words :)

Yes, this distinction will probably remain, but we're trying to push where we need to get back to textual languages. If you need to build a machine learning algorithm, I'm not sure visual tools will ever be the way to go (though i'd love to see this).

But both ways work well together. In Bubble, you'd build your optimization algorithm as a plugin, and then you (and even better, others, non technical colleagues) will be able to use the action you've built visually. The Bubble interface becomes the common language between business, product people and coders.

estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
This is actually custom-built, as it's very closely integrated with our editor (i'm talking about the learn lessons with the arrow).
estraschnov··on Bubble – Visual Programming
Yes, that's the vision. But then other people can use the plugin without coding, so the work is only done once.

Disclaimer: I'm the founder, but didn't initiate this thread. Happy to answer questions though.

estraschnov··on Show HN: Qoins – Pay off debt with spare change
Congrats!
estraschnov··on Pooper
From what I read, I think (hope) so.
estraschnov··on Pooper
It's an hilarious parody of SV
estraschnov··on Facebook is closing Parse
There are some other tools that let you build an app without backend code. Here is ours https://bubble.is/developers, would love to hear from folks.
estraschnov··on Improving Computer Education: Less Code, More Programming
Thanks!
estraschnov··on Learning to code is overrated
Would love to hear some comments about this, that's what we've been doing and saying at Bubble for a while (https://medium.com/inside-the-bubble/you-shouldn-t-have-to-l...)
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
yes, but we're not building a client for twitter. it's a clone :)
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
You can just type anything. Obviously we don't have access to twitter's db
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
Exactly, but entirely visual, no Basic
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
We're already working on a distribution version and we'll open an API soon so that people can add things that are missing.
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
it's one of our users.

Could have been a SHOW HN indeed, even though it's more about the idea that you can do that without code than showing twitter

estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
A lot of people are signing up though. Doens't work for you?
estraschnov··on Twitter, but without code
well it'd be hard to make twitter without having handlers, etc., but you can put a random email address :) we're not doing this to collect emails
estraschnov··on You shouldn't have to learn how to code
You're very right. Many people have tried, and haven't succeeded yet. But is it a reason not to try again? I think that way of thinking is very sad for an engineer... Our job is precisely to make things that look impossible possible, isn't it?
estraschnov··on SHOW HN: Visual framework to build Todo MVC
Thanks, and yes, funny :)
