DuckDuckGo has a nice timer https://duckduckgo.com/?q=25+minutes+timer&hps=1&atb=v325-1&...

Recently I've started using Kagi (I love it) and I am slightly dissapointed that it does not have any.

You should be careful what kind of links you post in your articles. Once I've clicked on /r/eatsandwiches I was too distracted to read the rest of the blog post.

Kurzgesagt was and still is the most eye opening for me personally.

>so I optimize for razors that get the job done faster (more blades, easier to swap a new blade)

Razors like G. Mach3 or similar are neither really much faster nor better in any way (I compare them against my $25 "classical" metal razor "Timor Solingen 1322"). The fact that so many people think otherwise is a proof that marketing departments of G. or Edgewell (Wilkinson) did a very good job.

I also used to hate shaving. I've switched to "classical" Timor Solingen razor recently ($25) + hard soap. While shaving took me some more time initially (+5 minutes every other day), overall quality of life was improved. This is single piece razor, so changing blades is as fast, and it gives better results than 5 blade heads. And much reduced plastic waste is also important to me. I don't know from where this myth of how faster or better "G* Mach3" (or similar) razors are, but sure the marketing department of those companies did a good job.

Hello from the Europe (PL). What are the odds of getting one of those if you live outside US/CA?

Are there any chances for better Vim mode?

I don't know about EPUBs support too much, my only experience was with Apple's iBooks, which (in most cases) handled EPUB ebooks very nicely (display-wise) with well formated, colored code and ect.

Thank you for your reply! Would you like to share your experience with your Kobo and how it handles (technical) EPUBs?

Thank you for your answer. So basically if you are from Europe your best bet is PocketBook. I feel embarrassed not knowing about them, they actually sell and ship directly from Poland (and many other countries). It seems that originally they were founded in Swizerland.

I've only seen Remarkable on photos, but comparing to all other (even the expensive Sony models) it just looks best. Maybe it's because its frames are white, and in these days we tend to perceive electronic devices with small (or almost none) frames as more modern? So does the real-life look hold up?

So in most cases affordable == small screen size, and the second factor is handwriting support. Also, is there a general issue with EPUBs, or just most of e-readers handle them poorly?

As for zsh, I partially agree, but you don't need to go with something heavy like oh-my-zsh. I use prezto, and it's great.

I've been using DuckDuckGo exclusively for several years now. But while privacy is a nice thing it has never been the No.1 reason. I just prefer their search result page design much better. I love customization options. I like !bang searches. And I almost never have been unhappy from search results. I think if your main value is privacy and nothing more, you're lost. Most users would value privacy, but it's almost like pie in the sky thing, that's vague, hard to define, hard/impossible to prove and most importantly you don't "feel it" right away. Quite contrary, using google will give you "better" ads. But some small annoyances (like design flaws) are provable and feelable immediately and will mostly win or loose you an user.

Credit where credit's due, the mentioned website (The Punctuation Guide) works very well with JS disabled, and the problem with text copying is gone. I use https://github.com/meetDeveloper/Quick-JS-Switcher

I also would like to use something similar but I wish to add new text on the top of the file (so oldest notes go to the bottom). I ended with something like this:

    nvim -c "+normal ggO# $(date)" -c ':s/$/\r/' -c 'se nohlsearch' notes.md

Would be interested in knowing if I can make this nicer/more efficient.

There's a video by Max Tech which digs deeper into the topic (along with possible fixes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkmdHVfk4XE

TL;DR: 1) It seems this is Intel's fault not Apple's 2) For fix - use TGPro (or something similar) to create your own fan speed profile (I use TGPro since many years without any issues)

I think Github (and other services that host OS software) needs something like "thank you box", that's just alongside Issues. Even if I am not able to contribute to some project I use and like (mostly because I don't have enough technical knowledge yet) very often I would like to - at least - say how much grateful I am for what this person is doing. There is some need for positive energy or gratitude, as we - who are happy - won't usually post an Issue saying that we are happy, everything is working fine. It seems then that there are only issues, and people who are angry or unhappy seem to be the loudest. How else, we who are grateful but silent users - can help maintainers and contributor to know that there is large or even larger amount of people who are happy and even amazed by their work?

I am stil amazed at whan my late 2013 Mac Book Pro can do. Recently I've bought one of the cheapest 4k monitor (27" Philips 276E). Connected to Mac Book via some cheap DP-miniDP cord and it works perfectly - sharp image, no problems of any sort. I doubt if most of the other laptops from that era, or even slighlty newer would allow me to do that.

Is this US only, or does it work in EU countries too? F.i. if I have a similar accident in Poland, would it call 112?
