Not to mention that it needs to be much easier to setup a server securely for the average person, and have a digital wallet to store their micropayments. (I love bitcoin but asking your average facebook user to setup a wallet securely is still too difficult)
This article correctly called out the advertising incentive of today's big companies as not being in the average users' best interest. I wish it had also talked more about what kind of incentives that are missing to get people to become a part of p2p networks. Great article though, I like how the author tied in the slowing rate of discoveries/progress into the problem.
Typically I combine an animal fat like the tallow, or butter with some olive oil when cooking. Occasionally I'll get fancy and buy goose or duck fat. Sometimes it's a pat of butter, or a scoop of coconut oil.
The food tastes better, and I feel better. It was hard to unlearn all of the bad science that came out of the last few decades about saturated fats, but hopefully I'll end up being better off for it.
We'll have a better picture when we study our solar system in more detail. Maybe 100 years? I agree that speculation this early in the game isn't enough to get excited over.
All of the corporate sites are going to devolve into corporate friendly zones soon enough.
It did tell me to hyper multi task and be more efficient (wow ground breaking /s).
Am I being obtuse? Was there an answer in there that I missed? I was really curious how he quit his day job...
My allergies were terrible before, now they are barely there and manageable taking the occasional zyrtec. My gastrointestinal issues are mostly gone, although I've read that could be from a reduction in inflammation in the gut lining, but might be related to changes in my gut microbes too. Hard to tell.
My energy levels are more sustained and even (no more crashes), and my moods are generally better. Who knows if my changing gut flora is the reason, it might be. I know not feeding those little buggers tons of sugar really changes things up! :)
Or it's all placebo and I'm just healthier in general. Either way I'm feeling better. I'm sure science will eventually figure out if the link is causal or not, but in the meantime don't let my anecdotal story sway you too much.
edit: oops I forgot to mention I also take a probiotic every now and then. Align is the name, I like it but I don't take probiotics regularly.
Amazon is tough because I don't actually interact with any employees, but if half the stuff I read online is even partially true, they have a lot of progress to make.
One of their recruiters contacted me a few weeks ago, and a quick search about what it's like to be a web developer there helped me decide not to respond.
I should really find a replacement for amazon prime... not the best feeling knowing I'm supporting the lawyers on imo the wrong side of this article.
His requirement were using MS Office (mostly for word and powerpoint), surfing the internet, and watching videos while traveling. Macbook Air was a perfect solution (even the stock one without upgrades).
Besides showing him how to use a mac and the initial setup of buying and installing msoffice, I haven't had to fix his computer in almost a year.
If I can get more of my non-tech friends and family to switch, I will, not because I'm a fanboy but to cut back on my free tech support for MS products that I stopped using 10 years ago for all my friends and family :)
I have a feeling the first site to dramatically improve content ranking is going to explode.
I don't need every future employer forever more knowing that I commented on a controversial video that one time back in '12.
I still pay the cable company for my data connection. They will change their business model, the only question is will they survive the changes brought on by new technology. There current business model has very little chance of working in the long term.
unfortunately most people who use it don't know how to do either. I should post a how-to for my fb friends :)
