This is just like the startup founder argument. Every one which succeeds ends up having a tremendously interesting background demonstrating unique interest and capability.
A better example of waste is when local governments funds things which people don't use.
I think the root of this sentiment is misunderstanding or lack of satisfaction at the system level.
Wait. If they are making phones that get bought up every year because of people like your friend, then where is the waste?
And we have we gone through that process to look at the issue from all sides and hear arguments from all parties? No.
You don't need to know intent to fire or punish someone anyway. In this case we can dismiss people for improper action, without demeaning them personally.
I don't believe you know what their internal mental states are.
1. There aren't other processes that need to share the system.
2. There are no spikes in memory usage.
Neither are true. The less memory each component uses the more you can run at once and it will likely be faster too.
The database has access control right? So only a few people in the org can read the data. And you are imagining a case where they:
a) find an inverse image of a password hash and use that login as another person to do something bad.
b) reverse the password from the hash to use in another context.
If a is an issue, why does this individual have sensitive data access in the first place? b is still unlikely. Any inverse image is unlikely to be the password if there is salting.
It sounds like an improvement could be made, but maybe not the highest priority. Can you inform me?
Pay attention to comments and compare a few answers.
This is true in my experience as well. The only exception I can think of was a very smart guy (Phd) who had severe autism and really struggled to speak with other people. It's just hard for him to make that conversion even though he is well aware.
Besides shear numbers, they only look in obvious places. The worst case is people only applying to listings on big sites for remote jobs.
I think degrees are an important indicator, and that thought would never even cross my mind unless you were 1 or 2 years out of school without experience. EE is one of the main degrees for this field.
