endo_bunker··on More honey bees dying, even as antibiotic use halves
Seems like they may not have realized that the fact that antibiotic use was associated with hive death could be because antibiotics are likely given primarily to unhealthy hives.
endo_bunker··on AI threatens to raid the water reserves of Europe's driest regions
If only there were some method for allocating scarce resources (such as water), by which everyone could indicate their perception of the relative value and some sort of equilibrium could be found.
endo_bunker··on Scale Ruins Everything
Comical to suggest that AirBnB "ruined communities" or "destroyed the dream of home ownership" as if decades of federal, state, and local government policy had not already guaranteed those outcomes.
endo_bunker··on Wealth Distribution in the United States
> The fundamental goal of neoliberalism is to place all capital in private hands and eliminate any governmental control over capital

Okay

> and that means eliminating the middle class and creating a two-tiered society of serfs and aristocrats, as existed in 19th century Russia, Britain and Germany.

No, that simply does not follow.

endo_bunker··on Wealth Distribution in the United States
Not just money, that's liquidating all of their assets at current market prices.
endo_bunker··on Wealth Distribution in the United States
Additional wealth has diminishing marginal returns, obviously.
endo_bunker··on US antitrust case against Amazon to move forward
They should probably just stop shaking down the American tech firms that are driving US economic growth.

endo_bunker··on Sprint, T-Mobile Merger Killed Wireless Price Competition in U.S.
This is full of central-planning nonsense. He wants lower prices, but is also mad when the company does layoffs. US consumers probably have some of the highest if not the highest demand for mobile data in the world, and the cost of living is already higher regardless, yet he acts shocked that American consumers pay more for mobile data.

Not to mention the fact that I pay $15 for a very reasonable Mint mobile plan that would probably suffice for upwards of 80% of American consumers.

endo_bunker··on New mRNA cancer vaccine triggers immune response to malignant brain tumor
If you're talking about the US, single payer healthcare would be nowhere close to a "rounding error". Medicare and Medicaid are already more than 5% of GDP.
endo_bunker··on I always knew I was different, I didn't know I was a sociopath
It would be interesting to know if this is a common experience among sociopaths. I had always thought that behaviors like theft resulted more simply from the lack of empathy (and desire for the stolen item), rather than resolving some kind of internal tension.
endo_bunker··on Amazon argues that national labor board is unconstitutional
Surely you're creative enough to imagine a system of government less imposing than an unaccountable executive bureaucracy but more functional than gangs of warlords.
endo_bunker··on On being listed as an artist whose work was used to train Midjourney

endo_bunker··on AMD Unveils AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT Graphics Card
Is the typical limiting factor for local LLM performance the amount of VRAM?
endo_bunker··on Kia, Hyundai Blame Mass Car Thefts on ‘Lax Policing’ in Court Defense
It's pretty clear that while some people will ignore deterrents, the lack of a credible deterrent causes people who would otherwise not commit crimes to begin to do so, hence high rates of smash & grabs and shoplifting in SF.
endo_bunker··on Do we need copyright? (2012)
He goes on to describe ways in which non-professors can be paid for their creative work without relying on copyright.
endo_bunker··on Unchecked corporate pricing power is a factor in US inflation
Corporations always raise prices when they can. The question is why they are able to raise prices now to levels they couldn't before, and as always the answer is a mix of government-created moats and monetary inflation.
endo_bunker··on Is algae the new kale?
I've considered eating algae as an alternative source of DHA with less risk of microplastic contamination, but I've had a hard time finding definitive evidence of what types of algae contain significant levels of DHA.

endo_bunker··on Ask HN: Is having a personal blog/brand worth it for you?
What sorts of blog posts led to those progressions? Or was there no common theme?
endo_bunker··on Ask HN: How have you deGoogled your life?
that sounds pretty neat, I'd be interested in seeing the source
