endergen··on Why Americans Have Been Deceived About Canada's Health Care System
I’m 41, lived in Canada till I was 31. Software Engineer, living in Boston mostly. I have always paid for the top tier health insurance benefits in my jobs. I have to say the experience in the US is waiting long for everything regardless and the User Experience :P is terrible. I spend so much time on calls clearing up confusions like who I owe money too, who replaces some health equipment I need, and etc. Privatizing seems to make for too much economic specialization that ends up meaning no vertical integration and thus a disjoint customer experience.
endergen··on Show HN: PatchGirl – QA for Web Developers
Less than the above is for sure.
endergen··on Pitch: Collaborative presentation software for teams
We all just use Google Slides or PowerPoint (with files shared on OneDrive), rough market to get in to.
endergen··on Screego – multi user screen sharing via browser
I don't mean to be negative, but there are so many multi-user whiteboards, screen sharing, video conferencing, and etc projects that they all blur together and more often than not don't take off. Definitely the underlying frameworks are nice though to roll into higher level projects.

Much respect for all your hard work regardless.

endergen··on D-Wave announces general availability of first quantum computer for business
The Quantum computer has to cost-effectively solve optimization problems cheaper than classical computers. Existing computers can handle large scale optimization problems especially with GPUs and/or cloud computing.

As other posters have called out, most early customers are probably just interested in getting a head start in understanding the tech and doing research now rather than too late.

Much new hyped tech is like this, a lot of people have fear of missing out in not starting too late on tech that will provide a business advantage, either execution wise or just brand wise (many people don't want to be the dinosaur, using no longer trendy tech).

endergen··on Motivation – Keli Language
Off serious topic: Naming it after you girlfriend is a risky move, like getting a tattoo of her. Better get married and stay that way or the next partner is gonna be like: "wtf", you still working on your tribute to your ex programming language!?
endergen··on Tower Defense with a twist: all towers must be positioned with CSS Flexbox
Easy Medium Hard CSS
endergen··on Expert overclockers successfully push DOOM Eternal past 1k frames per second
I’d want motion blur on then for super natural looking motion
endergen··on PlayCanvas, the Web-first game engine
Their lenses I think are all JavaScript, not sure if it’s WebGl rendering though, but it would make sense to do that to be cross platform
endergen··on Buttplug: An open-source software suite for teledildonics
Best logo ever: https://buttplug.io/images/squidplug.png
endergen··on Show HN: FalsiScan – Make it look like a PDF has been hand signed and scanned
Well, this is the greatest open source project ever. Time to close for the reason, internet.
endergen··on Rough.js – Create graphics with a hand-drawn, sketchy, appearance
This is great. I was using comics sans. This is a much nearer font. Thanks!
endergen··on Social Credit Systems, coming soon to a democracy near you
Funny how just using the culturally appropriate term “toxic workplace behavior” and all of sudden it doesn’t sound so bad. Who wouldn’t want that.
endergen··on OpenAI Releases Largest GPT-2 Text Generation Model
This is some Escher level shit. These words, just like his paintings, make sense totally within your window of vision as you move your eyes through, but make no sense on the whole.
endergen··on Photorealistic Path Tracer
Yup. Was a lazy Google on that one. Here’s his blog entry on it: http://thume.ca/projects/2012/11/04/simple-accurate-eye-cent...
endergen··on Photorealistic Path Tracer
Would love to see a link to what you are talking about
endergen··on Muse: designing a studio for ideas
They mention Liquid Text being an inspiration
endergen··on Google to warn when humans chat with convincing bots
Will Google record calls or metadata? More importantly, to alleviate concerns, will they indicate what their data policy is during a call?
endergen··on A 12pt Font Should Be the Same Size Everywhere (2012)
I created this Lifesized module and demos at one point to explore how much more we relate to objects drawn at their real size. https://github.com/francoislaberge/lifesized

Imagine buying shoes in Browser on a monitor and getting a better feel for its look via it being rendered on screen at its real size.

Also we should have an API for getting the Pixels Per Inch in browsers, it's a lie of 72 dpi everywhere currently regardless of the realdpi.

endergen··on The HARC First Year Report
That's weird. He was there before.
endergen··on Universal Now: Now, on Every Cloud
Both of them have worked together a ton and been in the same circles. Of course they are going to work on similar problem spaces.
