exactly, and they should be forced to operate like one, with democratic elections, and the same checks and balances like any other part of the government.
you make HOAs be part of the government and follow democratic rules like any government, ie. they are just a smaller form of a municipality, or a subdivision of one. you do not allow the government to delegate responsibilities to private organizations. you guarantee everyone inalienable rights regarding their property that no HOA is allowed to override.
for example, even if the whole neighborhood agrees to surveillance, the right to privacy in your home/property and in certain places (like public pools) should be absolute and it should not be possible to take it away.
why is that? and why is the county or state government not taking over the responsibility then? for example in germany a democratic local government is guaranteed by basic law, so a neighborhood outside of a municipality is practically not possible and considered a violation of basic law.
needing this happens rarely and in most cases where i needed it i actually wanted to show a static screen and not even give access to the whole app. for that i found an app that can show an image on an otherwise locked screen.
but you can't copyright the output anyways. which either makes the restriction on training void or, it means the owners of the model own the copyright, and they only transfer some of the ownership to you. is there such an ownership transfer statement? i haven't seen one yet.
if i publish that data, and someone else trains on it, am i liable? am i responsible to ensure that noone trains on that? how am i supposed to enforce that?
i suspect the problems are:
subcontractors are small businesses that don't have the resources to cover those liabilities or fight lawsuits from customers, nor do they have the resources to fight amazon to make it pay their share.
maybe getting insurance is not enforced, so those who don't pay for insurance are cheaper.
amazon uses their negotiation power to demand favorable conditions for themselves from subcontractors.
as someone involved with Free Software and Open Source, i can sympathize. the number of people who can get paid while at the same time doing it for the love of it is very small. i love to work on FOSS too, but i can't afford to do it without getting paid.
and what about tor? should that be shut down too? or is there a legitimate reason for it to use residential proxies?
