The EU is increasingly trying to suppress dissenting voices on one side of the aisle. We'll see how long people will put off with that before things get out of control.
South America is starting to divide itself between socialism (Venezuela, Bolivia, etc...) and center-right ideas (Argentina, El salvador). Time will tell.
They're trying other techniques to improve what we already have atm, but we're almost at the limit of its capabilities.

In the end, people will choose their echo chamber no matter if they know it's an echo chamber. I try to be as impartial as possible. I use Twitter, Reddit (specific subs), and occasionally, IG. I have a tiktok acct but I rarely use it.
The other thing is reach. Twitter, Fb, Instagram are global brands. It'll be really, and I mean difficult to move the rest of the world to other platforms (TikTok is the exception because they went ahead with video from the get-go).
Amazon: E-commerce, AWS, Twitch.
Microsoft: Azure, Office, Windows, Linkedin.
Facebook: Whatsapp, Instagram, Facebook.
Sooner or later, this trend will ramp up globally since the premise was to rent a spare room, not the whole thing. Tourism will survive since Barcelona has been a hot destination long before short-term rentals.
I advocate for every form of payment to be conducted without restrictions: cash, deposits, debit, credit, crypto, etc... That's true freedom, not eliminate all options but credit/debit.
