After 4-5 years, on every phone I've ever had, user interactions begin to lag noticeably. Apps launch much more slowly. Intense graphical apps like maps become frustrating to use. At some point I can't take it anymore and replace the phone, long before its physical parts or battery have worn out.
...minutes?
I did a markdown kanban thing. Filesystem API is very cool and underused. https://github.com/subdavis/mdello/
I also burned Rhododendron wood in campfires and brush fires more times than I can count without any adverse effects that I know of. My back yard was completely overgrown with the stuff. I’m sure the smoke inhalation of any fire is worse for you than anything specific about rhododendrons.

Do the facts matter? If the water issue is “fake” or overblown, but it’s resonating with voters who are packing town halls and ultimately effecting the change you want (a broad slowdown in the construction of new compute) is that a problem? Congress isn’t going to get off its ass. There is momentum here. Who actually cares if people are making misinformed choices if the outcome is correct? Isn’t this how literally all politics works?
(If you think the outcome is not correct, that’s a different debate entirely.)
I’d be fine seeing that compared to the water used by the rest of the normal electricity generation baseline I use.
Every 30 seconds in claude you get a new, elaborate, contrived bash command that claude wants to run. It's some combination of 10 things you've already granted permission for, but this one is new!
Cursor's auto-review run mode fixes that https://cursor.com/docs/agent/security/run-modes
I know it's a compromise in security, but auto-review+sandboxing provides a much nicer out-of-the-box experience. I'm happily using Cursor + Composer 2.5/Opus for most tasks.
Highly recommend this primer titled "The Model Engineering Learning Curve" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps_BQJEMnGA
She's been building a model locomotive for years now, there are over 100 videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLY67-4BrEae-xhrvZX33gPk4...
One more: a little engine I'd never encountered before called a wobbler is, apparently, the hello world of machining model engines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrHDrIms7-0
The ladder is also pulled up behind any kind of independent quality content producers. You cant run a successful channel without dedicated paid subscribers, and you can't build a dedicated subscriber base without years of work and supplementing your income with ads, so basically everything with an online audience also dies.
Edit: I bought a copy and I'm having a blast!
