ekzy··on We just launched Sketch Logo AI
agreed, and maybe ask to login to save logo or unlock more features, but I agree that you should let user play around a bit without needing to sign up!
ekzy··on Tailwind vs. Semantic CSS
In my experience, it isn't black or white. I've used tailwind along with components, e.g.

.button-primary { @apply rounded-full focus:ring focus:ring-orange-500 ring-offset-4 outline-none px-6 py-3 etc...

and it gives you the best of both worlds. You refactor common css code into components and still have the amazing flexibility of utility classes.

ekzy··on Show HN: A 15 min daily stretch routine for desk workers
I see your point but an office disabled toilet with staff cleaning it daily, and little use, could be cleaner than most people home. And you can wash your hands right after :)
ekzy··on Ask HN: Any solo game developers here?
Why post your job ad on indeed or LinkedIn if you’re only looking for one person?
ekzy··on macOS Ventura is now available
But it’d be even better if the laptop lid was just magnetic!
ekzy··on macOS Ventura is now available
It’d be cool if they used the iPhone built in magnets, and then display your phone stuff in the OS
ekzy··on Countersteering
From the Wikipedia article:

> While this appears to be a complex sequence of motions, it is performed by every child who rides a bicycle. The entire sequence goes largely unnoticed by most riders, which is why some assert that they do not do it.

ekzy··on Psychedelic drugs take on depression
Thanks for sharing your experience. Most stories I read online about psychedelics are overwhelmingly positive, so much that it feels like you’d be missing out on life if you didn’t try it. It’s good to read your kind of stories too.
ekzy··on Apple’s macOS Ventura – New Security Changes
You can’t be serious? The m1 is so good, great performance, much quieter and doesn’t get hot, and the battery life is amazing. Also there’s not many compatibility issues now
ekzy··on Show HN: What dogs can eat? (Web App)
I tried this website and instantly loved it and found it very useful. I’m disappointed that the advice isn’t accurate, is there any alternative app or website you would recommend?
ekzy··on PikaPods – Instant Open Source App Hosting
This app seems to target open source projects but Plex and Minecraft aren't open source
ekzy··on Show HN: PostgresML, now with analytics and project management
I think the logo is clever, and if there’s no rights issue it’s great. The fact that it’s a different website, domain, theme etc doesn’t make it ambiguous IMO
ekzy··on Show HN: PostgresML, now with analytics and project management
This looks awesome! I’m not an expert but wouldn’t the typical database hardware not be really optimal for running ML? Is this meant to run on a replica (which is quite straightforward to setup) that has ML optimised hardware?
ekzy··on Ask HN: Share your personal site
I've just tried to play minesweeper on this windows93 and it is very hard to say the least...

ekzy··on Apple announces Self Service Repair
This image really threw me as well. Weird.
ekzy··on Show HN: Ampie – See HN or Twitter discussions mentioning the page you are on
It's funny how every now and then an extension like this comes up on HN. Nice execution, I like your homepage too. I wrote a comparable extension with a similar vision about 5 years ago (with Clojurescript): https://jazzytomato.com/hnlookup-chrome-extension-clojurescr...
ekzy··on Lab-grown meat may never be cost-competitive enough to displace traditional meat
I agree. As a vegetarian, I think those alternative products are very good and close enough to meat for burgers, sausages, nuggets etc. How is lab grown meat going to compete?
ekzy··on Rails 7 will have great answers to JavaScript in 2021
Yes it is a great choice if not the best
ekzy··on In Praise of PostgreSQL
IntelliJ is decent and has drivers for pretty much all database systems. It can be downloaded has a stand-alone too (DataGrip)
ekzy··on Crossing an entire country in a straight line
Nice :) Is it valid though? I thought you might have had to swim across the harbour because there's more of the country on the other side of it
ekzy··on DoorDash removing 1-year cliff for equity grants
Covid might have created some habits in people, not sure the deliveries are gonna drop that much
ekzy··on Stop using your work laptop or phone for personal stuff, because I know you are
I tried to use this approach before, but if I remember correctly Homebrew didn’t like it. I like to manage my software with Homebrew, but multi user simply wasn’t working
ekzy··on Ask HN: Tools you have made for yourself?
Your script could send your IT guys an email too, that might eventually fix the source of the problem…
ekzy··on Fastly Outage
no, it's just that the incident has just been fixed by fastly https://status.fastly.com/incidents/vpk0ssybt3bj
ekzy··on Learn CSS
I like tailwind too but it's not an alternative to learning CSS. You still need to know CSS to be able to use tailwind
ekzy··on Flat Data
from github docs:

> We recommend repositories remain small, ideally less than 1 GB, and less than 5 GB is strongly recommended. Smaller repositories are faster to clone and easier to work with and maintain. Individual files in a repository are strictly limited to a 100 MB maximum size limit. For more information, see "Working with large files." If your repository excessively impacts our infrastructure, you might receive an email from GitHub Support asking you to take corrective action.

ekzy··on Job descriptions should show a salary or salary range
I do that too. It works most of the time, but sometimes they would reply "what salary are you currently on?", if they do then I either ignore them or I reply that I don't think it's relevant or I that don't feel comfortable answering that question.

I mean, it depends what market you're in. If you're desperate for the job, maybe you should reveal your salary (and bump it a bit?)

ekzy··on Job board to work on problems like climate change and food insecurity
Good idea but it would be good to have a description / intro text to the company and how they are contributing to saving the planet. Are the companies approved? For example this one on the landing page, I don't understand how it fits: https://www.sayprimer.com/
ekzy··on Adobe Photoshop ships on Macs with Apple Silicon
My first read was really confusing. I kind of blanked out that photoshop was from Adobe and read that “Adobe photoshopped ships on macs” as in ships photoshopped on images of Macs for some marketing reason.
