ekam··on Israeli soldiers using sexual assault to force Palestinians out of West Bank
Fascinating theory. Are there any statistics on how many Israeli soldiers have died for the U.S.? How many have been deployed to fight for the U.S.?

ekam··on Statement from Scarlett Johansson on the OpenAI "Sky" voice
Same here and that voice really was the only good one. I don't know why they don't bring the voices from their API over, which are all much better, like Nova or Shimmer (https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/text-to-speech)

ekam··on India suspends visas for Canadians as row escalates
Haven't seen any evidence for the militant training camp except for unrelated video that clearly showed a different person. Countries can put anyone on Interpol, including activists and that's a known problem https://www.voanews.com/a/as-interpol-turns-100-criticism-pe...
ekam··on India suspends visas for Canadians as row escalates
If India didn't want this wedge they shouldn't have violated Canada's sovereignty over a local plumber that liked to volunteer at his place of worship

The T200 is a great option too- you sacrifice the titanium for stainless steel but get more flexibility as the strap is removable (which IMO makes it more versatile). Beautiful dial too. I own one and I've been looking for watches with similar tinted crystal but haven't been able to find any that do it nearly as well.
ekam··on S.F.’s top-paid employee makes $640K. Here’s what every city worker gets paid
I'm fine with government employees being paid handsomely as long as they're qualified and effective. Currently, public employees are typically underpaid; however, a lingering problem in California is that public employees, once hired, have a "right to employment" that makes them considerably more difficult to fire than employees in the private sector. The guarantee of employment often removes any incentive for continued improvements in performance. If it were easy to shape the public employee workforce by selecting for the best, it would be easier to justify having salaries of public employees that are competitive with the private sector, which is how it should be if we want effective government run by competent and ambitious professionals.

seems like a lot of unwarranted conclusions. What if she doesn’t think public schools are good for other people’s kids either? What if she doesn’t live in an area with good public schools? I’ve known people that chose homeschooling and it’s not extreme at all
ekam··on All foster kids in California can now attend any state college for free
The state only takes care of kids if a court assumes jurisdiction under WIC 300. You can only voluntarily give ups kid within the first few days of birth (this is known as safe surrender https://advokids.org/legal-tools/safe-surrender/) otherwise courts usually assume jurisdiction due to cases of abuse, neglect, abandonment, etc

ekam··on Supreme Court strikes down affirmative action in college admissions
Affirmative action was banned across California and the article you cited itself says that the problem is only with UCs and not CSUs. The reasons proposed (distance, costs, number of UCs vs CSUs) intuitively ring true to me. Today's decision is obviously correct from a legal standpoint (equal protection clause bans all race-based discrimination) but the difference between CSUs and UCs actually suggests a positive path forward for helping boost Black and Latino enrollment in UCs- step one might be building a lot more and making them cheaper.
ekam··on Supreme Court strikes down affirmative action in college admissions
Yeah he does seem to have a somewhat cohesive and distinct philosophy of his own that undergirds his decisions and that's been underappreciated given his influence over the Court and American jurisprudence
ekam··on Supreme Court strikes down affirmative action in college admissions
Taking the same texts and having the same books mean nothing since the point of tests is the grades so what matters is if they had the same grades or not
