eka1··on People of ACM – Russ Cox
He puts words around what I've been feeling for the past 6 months or more:

> Ousterhout introduces the term “tactical tornado” for a programmer who churns out tons of working but overly complex code that doesn’t fit well into the existing system. Worse, a bad manager often sees a tactical tornado as the most productive programmer on a team, failing to recognize the complexity and code debt left behind for the rest of the team to clean up. If we aren’t careful managers, AI agents can easily become the ultimate tactical tornadoes.

eka1··on Don't classify, hallucinate
Did you validate this by running a A/B test? Main question is were you able to classify back into your known categories correctly all the time, or did the errors compound from the llm hallucination plus embedding search
eka1··on You Too Could Have Made Curl
Typically, you aren't trying to print in front of a large audience
eka1··on Google Maps is killing Timeline for Web
Was this change made to comply with regulation or save on cloud resources?
eka1··on L(O*62).ONG: Make your URL longer
Why the content warning for a hackernews website though?

eka1··on Harness launches Gitness, an open-source GitHub competitor
You are right, this PR is where they introduced git to drone: https://github.com/harness/gitness/pull/3364/

Would have been awesome to see this as a separate project, but I guess they would like to ride the drone CI wave. I like drone, unsure about including git in there

eka1··on Harness launches Gitness, an open-source GitHub competitor
So here's the GitHub project: https://github.com/harness/gitness

How does the project already have 27k stars? Surely this was not public before?

Or do you think drone always had this product?

eka1··on Piper: A proposal for a graphy pipe-based build system
Also https://taskfile.dev/ seems to be in a similar vein. Simplifying the authoring of the build specification.
eka1··on Piper: A proposal for a graphy pipe-based build system
There's this concept of "forward build system" that other people too have nibbled at. See:

* http://neilmitchell.blogspot.com/2021/09/small-project-build...

* https://dl.acm.org/doi/abs/10.1145/3497775.3503687

Primarily trying to reduce the high learning curve of complete build systems like bazel/please/buck.

The author too seems to be heading in this direction

eka1··on Bard can now help you code in over 20 programming languages
Interesting, I asked it this:

> Me: Write a golang function to get a http request, following the API of the get function in Python requests library.

> Bard: Sure, here is a Golang function to get an HTTP request with an API similar to the requests.get() function in Python:

It produced a function that takes url and parameters. Decent first approximation.

ChatGPT has trouble with this (when I tried a couple months back)

eka1··on Google Bard waitlist
Just got a:

> Bard isn’t currently supported in your country. Stay tuned!

eka1··on Wordle
I don't get it, how do I play this?
eka1··on Web Publications – LaTeX Style
Would be great if we can link to a html instead of the PDF. A live demo.
eka1··on Show HN: Hammerkit – Build Tool
So, a Makefile written in YAML?
