Omachy := Arch + vibed dotfiles. It might as well be a single AUR package. Ie arch for newbies with AI
eisbaw··on US sanctions force The Netherlands off Microsoft and toward alternative NixOS
The web made many mistakes. Only thing it got right is HTML and convenience. JS is garbage, browsers bloated. The web is centralized forgetful and fragile. No thx.
eisbaw··on Being ambitious and being a dad
Like OP with my first kid, I constantly had itchy fingers -- too many ideas to ever execute on. Tired and no more flow state. Work seemed like a waste of time with politics. My hobbies were my outlet - and now it was reduced to maybe 1 hrs a day.

Then AI got good. I've always been able to solve problems fast in my head, but was bottlenecked by fingers and dumb infra.

AI gave me my time back honestly. Nix solved infra. backlog CLI kept the work clear. Good engineering, in spurts.

Now I have more execution power than ever, and I can steer my minions. Yes, I don't get to code and there is little flow state, but I always better liked to solve a problem and go to the next than actually typing it out.

From my phone, wireguard and aVNC to my homelab, I conduct ralph loops on my architecture and principles. This is so powerful, that my brain poops out even more ideas - and so I find myself fully immersed - another kind of flow state.

Consequence: Brain fry and less sleep, so sometimes I just crash out and sleep for 10 hrs. Usually get 5-6 hrs nowadays.

why are people still surprised that this is possible? To me, this is has been normal for the past 1.5 years.

eisbaw··on We should revisit literate programming in the agent era
https://github.com/eisbaw/litterate_bitorrent 800 pages, noweb extracts rust. Made by claude in a ralph loop over 1-2 days.

yes, it downloads actual torrents.

eisbaw··on Open Source Teams Client
CLI rust-native client for Microsoft Teams, incl audio calling and messaging. Still very much alpha. Contributions welcome.

eisbaw··on Anthropic's original take home assignment open sourced
I got to 1364 cycles for now, semi-manually: Using design space exploration organized via backlog.md project, and then recombination from that. 20 agents in parallel.

Asked to generate drawio for the winner so I can grok it more easily, then I gave feedback.

Edit: 1121 cycles

eisbaw··on I don't care how well your "AI" works
Programming and CS is the art of solving problems - hopefully problems that matter.

AI lets you do that faster.

AI may suggest a dumb way, so you have to think, and tell it what to do.

My rate of thinking is faster than typing, so the bottleneck has switched from typing to thinking!

Don't let AI think for you. Do actual intensional arch design.

Programmers that don't know CS who only care about hammering the keyboards because they're artisans have little future.

AI also give me back my hobby after having kids -- time is valuable, and AI is energy efficient.

We are truly living in a cambrian explosion -- lot of slop will be produced, but market and selection pressure will weed those out.

eisbaw··on General principles for the use of AI at CERN
So general that it says nothing. Very corporate.
eisbaw··on How to stay sane in a world that rewards insanity
It is great that Jesus works for you, but you have to separate real-Jesus versus storybook-Jesus. No doubt he lived, but written stories can be elaborated on.

For all I know, Jesus could have been the world's first great magician. The world has seen quite a few people in it, some quite remarkable - for which stories have been written. No deity or supernatural abilities need to apply.

Words in a book/internet aren't always the truth.

eisbaw··on How to stay sane in a world that rewards insanity
> You get certainty in an uncertain world. You get a community that will defend you. You get a simple heuristic for navigating complex issues.

Like religion

eisbaw··on A down detector for down detector's down detector
100% agree. But with most used services being pushed by coorps, it will remain centralized until the "distributed mesh" becomes at least as good/robust.
