For some value of "good," sure.
eggsmediumrare··on Guitar Effects Guidebook, Vol. 20 [pdf]
Yeah, it's just a hassle if you're on a budget and don't want to spend the engineer's time on it.
eggsmediumrare··on Guitar Effects Guidebook, Vol. 20 [pdf]
Recording an album is a totally different experience with a Kemper. No more anxiety about how the tones will sit in the mix... If it's not working, you can re-amp it.
eggsmediumrare··on Less gym time, same results: Why ‘lowering’ weights is all you need to do
Starting Strength is fine, but would be even better if it was a shorthand in your comment for "training intelligently," as this would then include any progressive program involving compound resistance training and conditioning.

Not sure wtf I'd do with 120s. Too heavy to put overhead for much more than a rep or two unless you're an absolute animal. Too light for anything else, other than maybe bench I guess?

In the immortal words of Chef John: "no one ever got fat from eating olive oil"
eggsmediumrare··on Death by vegetable oil: What the studies say (2020)
Other than deep frying, there is nothing that doesn't benefit from the application of olive oil.
eggsmediumrare··on Staring into the abyss as a core life skill
Quality of fruit is the product of soil and climactic conditions, not the tree itself.
eggsmediumrare··on What AMC’s streaming troubles say about the greater TV industry
Seconding the library! Libraries are so great. And if they don't have something you want, odds are they will get it if you ask them!
eggsmediumrare··on As unions decline, inequality rises
The actual number is not upsetting, it's that 1) he achieved that number by exploiting workers (pee in a bottle, stay in the warehouse during a tornado, et cetera) and 2) not paying taxes.
eggsmediumrare··on Aerobic exercise can reduce the risk of metastatic cancer in mice: study
Max effort 500m row on a C2 is a special kind of awful

Great, you can do two jobs for the price of one.
eggsmediumrare··on ‘Monumental’ Math Proof Solves Triple Bubble Problem and More
Better this than quantitative finance or ads.
eggsmediumrare··on Take a break
I have a solution for you: be less productive. Seriously. Ramp down slowly so no one noticed, but just stop caring how much you get done. It doesn't matter. Or at least it doesn't matter nearly as much as you or your kids.
eggsmediumrare··on Good and Bad Procrastination (2005)
It's very natural to the point of being the default of human experience. Being able to expect to not be interrupted is unnatural.
eggsmediumrare··on Good riddance to long books
Robert Jordan was notoriously bad at writing women and the... physical descriptions are pretty bad, but to his credit, women in his books are not second class citizens. Some of the most interesting, influential and powerful characters are women.
eggsmediumrare··on Good riddance to long books
I've heard 7-10 referred to as "the slog." It definitely slows down a bit, but I still enjoyed them. There's a lot of character development that you don't really recognize is even happening until later.
eggsmediumrare··on Good riddance to long books
Finish it. You'll be sad when it's over.
eggsmediumrare··on Mandated diversity statement drives Jonathan Haidt to quit academic society
This sounds optional in the same way that company socials are optional. Maybe you can skip it once, but too many times and people start asking questions.
eggsmediumrare··on A computational perspective on the Nobel Prize
I was just at a wedding and talked to a guy on the Nobel selection committee for Physics. He writes software for particle physics experiments. One of those conversations that remind you just how far the spectrum of human intelligence extends.
eggsmediumrare··on A method to promote sleep in crying infants using the transport response [pdf]
By this logic, do you have a problem with grocery stores?
eggsmediumrare··on Tinder turns 10: what have we learned from a decade of dating apps?
This would be fine, at least there's a conversation happening then.
eggsmediumrare··on A solution to current high power prices
My understanding is that they are only occupying areas they managed to take.
eggsmediumrare··on Mozart Effect
Similar experience, but with prog metal.
eggsmediumrare··on US library defunded after refusing to censor authors
There's a solid argument for keeping those books for their historical value. Like how Mein Kampf is in a lot of libraries, but not the lunatic ravings of some modern equivalent.
