egeozcan··on Pro Max 5x quota exhausted in 1.5 hours despite moderate usage
But the problem is it used to not need that before. These days, you have to think twice before you summon a subagent.
egeozcan··on The Brainrot Industrial Complex
So it's agrued that the modern internet functions as a "brainrot industrial complex" (title of the article), deliberately designed to hijack our attention and degrade our ability to think clearly for profit... My counter-point is, isn't everything so these days? Internet just happens to be the main communication channel. Even the local, in-person meetings I've had in the last 10 years or so, are full of distractions, attention-seeking and misrepresentation.

Yes people should make an explicit effort to reclaim their focus, but maybe not directly with digital tools? "Start in the physical world" would be my humble advice.

I strongly believe the digital world is just a multiplier for everything, including our defects. So we should just start at the source.

egeozcan··on Artemis II is competency porn
Why not up the ante a bit; I'll be impressed when they bio-engineer special humans who don't need a dome to live there. Come on, it's been 60 years!!

egeozcan··on Filing the corners off my MacBooks
Some people visit customers, work on the go, work in a cafe, etc. That's the point of getting a laptop, no?
egeozcan··on I still prefer MCP over skills
What are the advantages of using an environment that doesn't have access to a CLI, only having to run/maintain your own server, or pay someone else to maintain that server, so AI has access to tools? Can't you just use AI in the said server?
egeozcan··on A whole civilization might die tonight
From where I'm looking, any kind of resistance is becomes a target to divert the guilt from any failure.
egeozcan··on Issue: Claude Code is unusable for complex engineering tasks with Feb updates
I agree. Opus, forget the plan mode - even when using superpowers skill, leaves a lot of stuff dangling after so many review rounds.

Along with claude max, I have a chatgpt pro plan and I find it a life-saver to catch all the silliness opus spits out.

egeozcan··on Just 'English with Hanzi'
I'm not one of those AI haters, and as long as you give it enough love, I have nothing against the usage of AI in blog posts. Actually, I'm even quite disappointed that I'm not allowed use AI to correct my grammar here anymore.

That said, this has so much fill-words and weird section titles that reading becomes torture. Not to mention the lack of sources.

egeozcan··on Artemis II crew take “spectacular” image of Earth
I'm not a US resident but I'm immensely disappointed in myself because I didn't know this existed.

I guess the rich person who was just planning to respond to my request needs to find another thing to spend their money on :)

egeozcan··on Artemis II crew take “spectacular” image of Earth
Dear some very-rich person, please send a selfie-camera to the space! Yes, all that effort so we can keep looking at ourselves on a planet scale.
egeozcan··on Turning a MacBook into a touchscreen with $1 of hardware (2018)
My 3 year-old never had access to tablets or phones but sees us using phones all the time. So when he gets curious and touches the laptop screen (something he does with our phones occasionally as well), he's shocked to see it doesn't react.
egeozcan··on My MacBook keyboard is broken and it's insanely expensive to fix
> nations that once ruled the world are now laughing stock on the global stage

...and yet it gets repeated!

I'm not worried about the right ideology. Last time I took a political test, it told me I'm slightly right-leaning, but that changes every time I take such tests :)

I said that I'm disturbed by the extremists who plan to take away my legally earned rights.

European countries have rules and requirements like most other countries. I looked at their criteria, it sounded fair, took the deal and now I'm here. I pay my taxes, obey the rules, even applied for citizenship (takes ages), and I expect my rights to be protected as well, as long as keep my end of the deal. Those people threaten that golden rule.

Some seem to be obsessed about ruling and military power, and from the outside, they seem to believe that you only are allowed to move in this world if you kill/defeat the previous residents.

Those are the people I'm scared of.

egeozcan··on My MacBook keyboard is broken and it's insanely expensive to fix
Oh, okay. Sorry for the wall of text against the small snipe :) It's just that these things stick.

> Given that it's the EU making those regulations, it looks like the government only has to be semi-competent

Context: I'm not a EU-native, I've migrated to here.

It disturbs me a lot when people keep repeating the "incompetent government" narrative when it comes to the EU, but when you compare it to the dictatorship that I escaped from, they still seem way more competent, surprising when the big advantage of a dictatorship is supposed to be increased efficiency while reducing personal rights.

Personally I cannot name a better government (or governing body, given that we are talking about the whole EU) anywhere else on this planet.

I feel I'm incredibly lucky to live here even when the economy is getting tougher. The only thing that worries me and makes me consider leaving is the right-extremes, which to this day, thankfully had limited influence.

Sorry for the digression, but I just wanted to address this repeating pattern. It's possible that you have very valid reasons to call them semi-competent and that I'm overreacting.

egeozcan··on AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition crams 208MB of cache into a single chip
The RAM prices are so high and the storage is also getting more expensive every day, so we're forced to fit everything inside the CPU cache as a solution! /s
egeozcan··on Hacking old hardware by renaming to .zip [video]
Interesting, I'd have assumed the guardrails would disallow them from doing anything like that, regardless of legality. Do you need to "convince" it to do it or no questions asked?
egeozcan··on Anatomy of the .claude/ folder
I was using the built-in chrome skill but it was too unreliable for me. So I switched to playwright cli and I can also have it use firefox to get help debugging browser-specific issues.
egeozcan··on Schedule tasks on the web
Dive into a forest, you'll find a couple of cool trees.

Art isn't about being cool. Art is about context.

When I tell people that art cannot be unpolitical, they react strongly, because they think about the left/right divide and how divided people are, where art is supposed to be unifying.

But art is like movement, you need an origin and a destination. Without that context, it will be just another... thing. Context makes it something.

egeozcan··on Qite.js – Frontend framework for people who hate React and love HTML
IMHO, you shouldn't make "hate" part of your tagline.

Maybe focus on a use-case? Something like, "No-build, no-NPM, SSR-first JavaScript framework specializing in Time-to-interactive" - maybe?

egeozcan··on Epoch confirms GPT5.4 Pro solved a frontier math open problem
On what do you base your prediction?

Is it because the AI is trained with existing data? But, we are also trained with existing data. Do you think that there's something that makes human brain special (other than the hundreds of thousands years of evolution but that's what AI is all trying to emulate)?

This may sound hostile (sorry for my lower than average writing skills), but trust me, I'm really trying to understand.

egeozcan··on AI Is Garbage and a Bubble
I'm trying to understand why he's so angry, but I can't. If he's so passionate, why not take the time and make a cohesive argument instead of jumping from point to point in an unstructured way?

This is something that happens when people feel threatened, actually, but he has a lot of credentials, and reading them makes me convinced that he shouldn't feel threatened by AI, at least not on this level.

Very weird.

egeozcan··on Hide macOS Tahoe's Menu Icons
I just don't want to switch to an ipad when I want to sketch something. Also some tagging interfaces for photo review work exceptionally well with a touch screen. So I don't want to carry a macbook pro and and ipad, long story short.

> I just hope you could exclude speculative new interfaces and gestures in future macOS that straight-up cannot be done with a mouse

I agree 100%. I'm already annoyed about how some stuff that's easy to do with a touchpad are straight-up broken with a normal mouse.

egeozcan··on Hide macOS Tahoe's Menu Icons
Sorry to break your streak but I'm a "real-life Mac user who legitimately wishes for a touchscreen MacBook", but maybe you may argue that I'm holding it wrong and my wish is illegitimate :)
egeozcan··on 25 Years of Eggs
I actually was going to go for the "why did the chicken not cross the road?". Then I wanted to say "because it was in a price negotiation with the author to sell its eggs", but it was too wordy. Then I thought, "because the author had it as an egg before it could hatch", but it was too dark... Then I gave up.

Well, I guess you cannot make a chicken joke without breaking some eggs (I'll stop now. I'm really sorry, but come on, it's Sunday).

egeozcan··on 25 Years of Eggs
I usually avoid shallow comments but I feel like this time it has to be said as a conversation starter: That's a lot of eggs!

Also ignoring the benefits of subscriptions, an estimate in the magnitude of thousands of dollars for extracting egg prices still makes me feel like we aren't "there" yet. This should have been a problem with a much more efficient solution given the advancements in the AI, data analysis and OCR space. I am sort of disillusioned.

egeozcan··on The three pillars of JavaScript bloat
I think the issue is that the JavaScript ecosystem is so large that even the strangest extremes manage to survive. Even if they resonate with just 0.1% of developers, that’s still a lot of developers.

The added problem with the atomic approach is that it makes it very easy for these fringes to spread throughout the ecosystem. Mostly through carelessness, and transitive dependencies.

egeozcan··on HopTab – Open source macOS app switcher and tiler that replaces Cmd+Tab
As someone who switched to macos from the hot pile of mess called windows last year, my biggest point of pain was the window management. I use Rectangle Pro, and it helps a lot, but IMHO workspace integration is poor still.

I'll give this one a try. BTW, if this works, can you please consider asking money for it? Keep it open source but perhaps add a friction-less support channel (read: not github issues) for paying customers. Just an idea.

In any case, thanks for the hard work and making it open-source.

egeozcan··on 404 Deno CEO not found
Bun is pragmatic, extremely fast and self-contained. Ryan Dahl is a hero of mine but Deno could be neither of those, which is a shame, but to answer your question, no, not much of these can be said for Bun.
egeozcan··on Drugwars for the TI-82/83/83 Calculators (2011)
Maybe that sounded dismissive (considering the downvotes), but I loved this game when I was on high school. I had a symbian version. and I don't have a ti-83 laying around, so created a slop version to have some fun, and thought maybe others would try it too. Didn't share the generated code out of respect. No offense meant :)
