egeozcan··on ADHD, autism or complex trauma? [pdf]
Hey, I didn't downvote you, but you may want to correct some spelling before you do that. A random paragraph: https://imgur.com/a/FXOZ3JZ

I kind of think, any scrapbook/sheet you may compile yourself would have a much bigger impact. The effort you put in give it importance for the children as well, this is how humans work :)

Must be challenging, and I'm rooting for you.

egeozcan··on ADHD, autism or complex trauma? [pdf]
Even some other people with ADHD seem to treat it like a trait, and not like a disorder.

This worries me.

Also, what's so noble about hiding own struggles?

And also, why shouldn't I be relieved when I understand a big factor in my struggles?

This is a very confusing comment.

I make this page: https://egeozcan.github.io/psuedo-00s-website-slop-edition/

Then at the very same day HN has this.

This site is like my second brain.

egeozcan··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
You say that when the customer makes irrational requests.

Is it irrational to want consent went the subscription terms change? Netflix does it a month in advance, and cancels the plan when no consent given. What do you think is special with LLM companies so they get special treatment?

I'm from Europe so maybe this is why it feels so weird to me. Then again, they could stop offering their services to a region if they don't want to adjust their ways.

What gets me confused is how they aren't prosecuted for this. My theory is that people are too busy with the security threats and (currently) ignore the shady practices.

egeozcan··on GPT-6.1 Sol replaces GPT-6 Sol after just 7 days, with near-Astra intelligence
That doesn't resolve them from providing a stable service for something they market. I'm not buying something under the counter, and it's not advertised to be an alternative for people not willing to pay the full price. From my perspective, the subscription is the full price and I expect stable, reliable service.

Shady as in not clearly communicated and change with random tweets being the only indicator, or a blog post if you're lucky.

x20? 25x? 5x? All in comparison to some other plan that also doesn't have clear limits. "Oh BTW we mean session limits, your weekly is 2x of 5x". "This model eats your limits twice as fast and you can use half of your weekly limits on it". "No this time we mean weekly only".

Worries of AI going rogue take so much attention that no governance body seems to care about the shady subscriptions and limits business.
egeozcan··on Sonnet 5.5
I created a team of agents using Opus 5.5 to review and address findings on a job system I have in a side project with medium reasoning, and I burned through the 20x plan weekly limit in 2.5 days. They were using GPT-6-Sol for reviews, and it also used 85% of my OpenAI x5 weekly limit. Three hundred something commits in total.

OTOH, in the daily job, I have the team plan that's similar to 5x plan and I never had any limit problems, because I really need to understand be able to take responsibility for the code.

Totally different uses.

Humans can also be tricked by the agents.

Humans can be tricked by humans too but humans care about their reputation in their communities, and at least fear from punishment.

This is such a reductionist take, it's wrong no matter how you think. Maybe a counter example will make it obvious:

> Human autonomy

> Somebody gives birth to you

Which is it?

I think if you could figure out how QBASIC works, you can easily figure out how to draw in a canvas: https://www.devtoolsdaily.com/canvas/playground/

For sleep: const sleep = (ms) => new Promise(x => setTimeout(x, ms))

then you use like, for(;;) { console.log("hello"); await sleep(1000); }

The extra you get with this is the awesome dev tools. You can try it in this very page.

egeozcan··on 'That's so AI ' What gen Alpha's biggest insult tells us
Not to be taken too literally but, everything you could do with QBASIC, you can do with an HTML file. You don't need a server. Yes, many clipboard/camera/mic/etc. APIs and other sensitive stuff are restricted but it's great for starting.
egeozcan··on The "Windows XP Box" (2003)
I'll never forget the day I bought (made my parents buy) Age of Empires 2 and its blue box.

More like, "back when software came in physical media".

Putting the CD in the drive, the installation starts, and that wow effect starting the game, the hard disk clicking like crazy.

egeozcan··on How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years?
Latency had to improve because of the increased CPU speeds, but it didn't, causing a regression that's easy to perceive.
egeozcan··on How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years?
Ram is getting better, faster etc. except for the latency. I guess we still cannot bend the rules of physics.
egeozcan··on How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years?
It's funny how my 3950X, which I still find to be an absolute monster for anything I throw at it, isn't even in the benchmarks anymore. Hard to believe it's 7 years old.
egeozcan··on I said no and Apple said yes
Are you trying to imply that UX is something we only measure on software? That'd be incorrect.
egeozcan··on I said no and Apple said yes
I was talking about the hardware. Software sucks, paid little helper this, paid little helper that...

To be fair, the whole thread is about tolerating Apple because how good the hardware is :)

egeozcan··on I said no and Apple said yes
I will never buy/use DELL again. Even if the company completely reinvents itself, stops selling computers and just rebrands toasters, these combination of letters make me distrust anything they are physically printed on.

I'm not exaggerating, I had so many horrible experiences.

egeozcan··on I said no and Apple said yes
I have to agree, unfortunately. Macbooks have their issues, and give me violent tendencies like any piece of hardware every now and then, but when it comes to UX and reliability, they are far, far ahead of anything I tried, and I tried a lot of hardware.
egeozcan··on Brood War Bench
No they can handle it, but they need too much time. If you pause the game when the LLM thinks, it works. Wrong tool for the job in its current state.
egeozcan··on Brood War Bench
That's Red Alert 2 and Age of Empires 2 for me, and I really long for those times I could gather with friends in an internet cafe and be able to steal their hamburger in the real world when they made me mad in game.
egeozcan··on Brood War Bench
Make the OpenAI models develop AI-scripts to play the game instead (like the good old AI-scripts, not AI as in LLMs). They are amazing at that.

egeozcan··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
All posters I saw used to look like these sub-10-dollar stuff before AI took over: https://graphicriver.net/posters-graphics?sort=trending#cont...

They were/are not great. While I agree that spending extra 10 minutes improves the results, AI stuff are also not amazing. I think there's nothing surprising about this.

egeozcan··on GPT-6 Astra Solves a WWI German Radio Cipher
Is there anything that LLMs (or any software for that matter) could imaginably and theoretically do but do humans qualitatively cannot do?

I don't really know what I'm talking about but I imagined the difference was always quantitative (in a nutshell: they need less time).

egeozcan··on Astra for Law
That wasn't what I was going for but, why not?
egeozcan··on Astra for Law
In the future, because of bad things we did to the atmosphere and stuff, miscarriages are the common ending of a pregnancy, instead of being the exception. One evil company finds a way to accelerate the process by using 10 women, lowering the chances of miscarriage simply by reducing the time in womb.

I thought, something like a medication helping the women develop the baby in 30 days, but seriously damages the host in a couple of days, so the fetus gets transferred from host to host. Some die, but the evil rich don't care. Your idea could also work though.

I realize that this is totally the wrong corner of the internet to post this but I guess today I'll just go with it.
