Would be interesting to see how these "types of titles" (How, Tips, Shortcuts)convert in terms of "time spent", "bounce rate" etc...
I guess that this is also really "Twitter" oriented. On other distribution channels like HN it might be different.
Last thing, I'm wondering if it's sustainable. So many "tips" and "shortcuts" articles are shared on Twitter nowadays. Maybe it's rooted too deep in the human brain :-)
#1 we sent 2 emails but too late (after 3 months) #2 spreadsheets are fine until 50 - 100 users after we couldn't keep up #4 we did get some exposure but really not enough compared to what we could have had
That said for our public beta it'll be a focus.
That said their argument saying that it's a good method not to attract "Tyre Kickers" only doesn't stand so much. As a competitor I would specially be interested to pay 30$ to access a product from a potential competitor.
Before doing marketing, make sure there is a market/people ready to pay for your solution.
Only if so, start doing marketing (outbound, inbound,...).
I'm not an expert in collect/display testimonials solution but have you validated the need for such a product? Any paying customers yet?
If so, clearly define your typical customers and find ways to reach out to them.
Hope it helps.
