eemil··on Why Was Mini USB Deprecated in Favor of Micro USB?
To a degree, I can forgive the use of slim ethernet ports. Now that dual-band wifi and widely compatible (USB-C) docking stations are common, it's not essential to have one at all, for the majority of users
eemil··on Free Dropbox Accounts Now Only Sync to Three Devices
Agreed. BTW, parts of the server are actually written in C.

Best thing about Seafile is its syncing performance. Worlds better than owncloud/pydio, and it doesn't choke on large directories.

eemil··on Free Dropbox Accounts Now Only Sync to Three Devices
Seafile's paid version support S3 backend storage and is free for 3 users.
eemil··on Apple now repairing MacBook keyboards in store, promising next day turnaround
A "pro" machine shouldn't be making these types of compromises. My last two laptops (ThinkPad 13, Dell 7490) both have the ability to charge either with the built-in charging connector or USB-C.
eemil··on Study: Two Monitors or One Ultrawide
Same. Low-dpi monitors cause a lot of eye strain for me.
eemil··on Xiaomi’s “100W” quick charging goes from 0 to 100 in 17 minutes
I'm finding myself using slow charging more as batteries are harder to replace these days.

Faster charging produces more heat, degrading lithium batteries faster. And it's just unnecessary if you leave your phone to charge overnight.

I just hope there's an option in software to control the rate of charge in Xiaomi's new phone. That would be the best of both worlds. It should default to a conservative rate, and allow you to enable quick charging by tapping a notification as you plug in.

eemil··on Tesla Model Y
Not an issue in this day and age, IMO. While FWD is more controllable, and safer in the snow, modern stability control systems have done a _lot_ to bridge the gap.

My 2006 era RWD car has the manufacturer's optional stability control, and I'm constantly impressed by how effectively it keeps the car in-line in snow. Even on long, sweeping turns, where it's hard to know when you're beginning to slide. This is without any kind of steering control, with only engine power limiting and individual-wheel braking.

Much more important, is to have proper tires for the season. Even if you don't experience snow, you need tires with the appropriate temperature ratings. Summer tires will turn rock-hard in freezing temperatures, and lose a lot of grip. Even on bare pavement.

eemil··on A Touchpad Embedded Keyboard
Agreed. Seems like it would either be awfully complex (and expensive), or a jarring experience compared to most trackpads.

If you're a trackpoint user, Lenovo's usb/bluetooth thinkpad keyboard offers the same kb+mouse combo in a similar form factor.
