edwinwee··on Stripe microtransaction: very poor experience and I need your advice
Sorry about this. Could you forward that email to me at edwin@stripe.com?
edwinwee··on Stripe is holding $200k with no explanation
Got it. We've just sent an update. Sorry for all the trouble.
edwinwee··on Stripe is holding $200k with no explanation
Just checking—have you emailed? Happy to take another look.
edwinwee··on Stripe live dashboard

edwinwee··on Stripe Atlas is giving incorrect information for non-US founders
Sorry about that. We're also seeing a small handful of cases like this—it seems like there is some inconsistency in how IRS agents are handling. We're working on updating this guidance. (Ross—we're replying to our email thread now. And for any other Atlas founders who have questions about this in the meantime, you can reach us at atlas@stripe.com.)
edwinwee··on Ask HN: Looking for an Alternative to Stripe
You can block by issuer / BIN with Stripe Radar: https://stripe.com/docs/radar/lists#default-lists.

You can also request to receive BIN per transaction if you write into support (https://support.stripe.com/contact/login). This isn't allowed by default because Stripe needs to make sure the setup and use case is secure to ensure PCI compliance.

edwinwee··on The underground world of credit card network exploitation
Radar is included for free in the base offering.
edwinwee··on The underground world of credit card network exploitation
(Edwin from Stripe here.) Worth noting this is copypasta from an older post from a month ago (https://piotrmierzejewski.com/p/card-networks-exploitation). We've fixed most of these issues since then. This type of card testing has dwindled—Radar should now be catching these types of attacks.

On the chargeback point—we hate chargebacks too and we want to limit them as much as possible (we're actually working on a few things over here that we think will help with this). The banks levy chargeback fees (in varying amounts) and an average of them show in the form of a $20 fee—it's not a Stripe-specific fee and we don't profit from chargebacks.

We've just finished company planning for the rest of the year and reducing this type of fraud is a top priority. So if you think you're seeing something similar, please email me at edwin@stripe.com.

edwinwee··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Stripe?
"May have" because OP's HN name is "tempaccount3333", and I did ask them to email me once before, but I don't see anything—so I need them to reach out so I can identify their account and see what's going on.

There's no identifying info here (name or business) and we don't see any emails referencing this thread.

edwinwee··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Stripe?
(Edwin from Stripe here.) I think we _may_ have chatted? (Hard to tell with tempaccount name.) Could you email me at edwin@stripe.com and link to this thread?
edwinwee··on Ask HN: Stripe is holding 50% for 9 month
There are a bunch of factors—we look at your refund and chargeback rates, then your revenue and how much you have in your Stripe balance. For macro factors, the card networks may also sense an uptick in refund requests depending on the product/service you're selling.

That said, I see your email into our support team and we're taking another look at this now.

Hey — I work at Stripe. Sorry about this. Could you email me at edwin@stripe.com and we can dig into this more?
edwinwee··on Stripe is holding over $200k of mine with no explanation
(I work at Stripe and don’t want to publicly provide specifics for privacy reasons, but, yes, we’ve been in touch with OP already about their business model. If we assess customers are requesting refunds and filing disputes, funds are reserved so that all customers can receive refunds in a timely manner.)

edwinwee··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (February 2023)
really interesting
edwinwee··on Ask HN: Why doesn't Stripe use more than one acquiring processor?
“Do not honor” is a decline from the customer’s card issuer — they might think something’s off with the payment or there’s something up with the customer’s account. If you haven’t talked with our support team yet to dig in, could you email me at edwin@stripe.com?

Stripe is a direct network platform, meaning, we work with Visa, Mastercard, etc. and the charges are run directly through the card networks, which negates the need for a middle acquiring layer.

edwinwee··on Stripe’s real pricing: a primer
There is no company (that we're at least aware of) on Stripe that is using this combo of Stripe products and paying the "total cost" outlined in the post. Our pricing scales with the size (and needs) of the business. If a business on Stripe is large enough to use our highest billing tier, quotes, revenue recognition, and data pipeline together, then Stripe would've bundled the products together. (And then we charge for them at the end of the month with a volume-based rate of bundled products + payments.) These products are built for the companies who've asked us for these enterprise features and aren't necessarily meant to be used one-off, as the post implies.
edwinwee··on Stripe’s real pricing: a primer
There’s no charge to use Stripe after the $500 Atlas fee to form a company. What fees are you seeing? If you’ve maintained a presence in Delaware, perhaps you’re still paying for your registered agent? (You can also email me at edwin@stripe.com and we can look into this.)
