ebbi··on Updated Google Maps shows destruction of the city of Rafah
How many teenagers were killed by Hamas? And are there independent sources that verify this?

Also, is Oct 7 enough justification to shoot 335 bullets at 6 year old Hind Rajab?

Your questions reek of bias by trying to centre everything to Oct 7, as though history began there. If you really cared about children, you'd have referenced the thousands of Palestinian children killed by Israel before Oct 7.

Such weak whataboutism as well. I know so many pro-Palestine people personally and people I follow online that also speak out about Sudan, Iran, other ME countries.

Heck, I know so many Muslims critical of Muslim majority nations.

Well what else do you expect when you subjugate a native population for decades? Just expect perfect victims?

The peaceful route didn't work. Only idiots will think continuing with the status quo will result in anything different.

Why are all pro-Israel responses the same?

It's not Genocide...

...because UN is corrupt...

ebbi··on Steve Wozniak launches merch store
Stopped reading DF ever since his unhinged posts mocking the war crimes being committed in Palestine at the hands of Israel.

"F*k around and find out" he quote tweeted a news article that talked about how phone and internet services were cut out in Gaza as armed Israeli occupational forces entered Gaza.

ebbi··on Iranian banks' SSL certificates are being revoked due to OFAC sanctions
> "Israel’s neighbors Jordan and Egypt have made peace with Israel"

The governments may have, but I can assure you the average citizen of those countries haven't, as they still have morals and haven't got US funding to buy their morals.

ebbi··on Iranian banks' SSL certificates are being revoked due to OFAC sanctions
> "I think United States should be sanctioned."

They definitely should. Sick of the double standards. And the "USA can do no wrong but this tech in others' hands will be bad" takes.

ebbi··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
I'm not annoyed that my OG Apple Watch Ultra doesn't get the latest OS. I get it - tech moves at a fast pace.

What I am annoyed about, is that I'm stuck with Watch OS 26, which introduced their new workout app, which is so laggy. One of the few things I use my Apple Watch for, and that UX is a major regression from previous OS versions.

I really wish they released a .x update to Watch OS26 to fix this.

ebbi··on Global shortage has led to motor oil rationing at Costco
My comment wasn't necessarily to talk about model parity across markets - more to highlight the growing trend of people buying large utility vehicles with a tray as a fashion statement (for lack of a better term) than for its utility.

> "a lot of those mods are passable without certification" Not true. Besides the bush lights, any changes in suspension and wheel size require a certification, with a LVVTA cert plate attached to the vehicle.

There is definitely a case of double standards with police enforcement. 'Boy racers' with modified coupes and sedans - typically lowered, with larger wheels - get way police scrutiny compared to utes with obviously illegal modifications like colored lights, and wheels jutting out past the fenders.

ebbi··on Global shortage has led to motor oil rationing at Costco
Same trend here in NZ. People buying utes/trucks just because they want, not because they need. They're not as big as the American F150s etc, more a Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger.

And they're often driven by reckless road ragers, often modified with uncertified suspension, bush lights turned on at night blinding oncoming traffic, and wheels extending past the fender flares. These vehicles are often financed to the hilt, so spending money on certifying the modifications is out of the picture, so a lot of these are not legal to drive on the roads.

I'm in the market for a good TV to pair with my PS5 Pro for GTA6.

What brand does not do scummy things like this, or that I can easily avoid by not requiring me to download an app to set up?

ebbi··on 'Lake America' makes one thing clear: We can't trust U.S. tech companies
I remember when tech news sites used to (rightfully) harp on about Chinese tech companies and how they should not be trusted given they satisfy every whim of the CCP.

But now large tech companies in America can't even challenge the naming of a Lake and just folded, meekly.

ebbi··on AI, Tools and Transformation
My thoughts on AI and how it's going to disrupt jobs is evolving.

I was very much in the doomer category last year, but less so now. For someone working in Accounting/Finance/Revenue roles, who has always had a keen interest on tech and software development (but never dedicated enough time to really learn a language to build something of my own), I had many ideas on tools that could be useful in my job - just never had the skill to build it.

Now that I have AI, I'm experimenting with building some of these solutions, but I must say: software development is hard. Yes, it would be a lot easier if I had others to work with, especially for things like UI/UX, understanding some of the more complex backend decisions etc. I imagine if I find it hard, people that haven't really been following tech trends would find it even harder.

Yes, you could get away with vibe coding a tool that only you would use, but once it goes beyond that, and it needs to be shared with colleagues, or if the aspiration is to market it, there are so many decisions one needs to make to be at least close to world class quality.

Things may change as more advanced models come about, but at this stage, I still think unless you're a seasoned developer with good design taste and UX experience, you need a team of people with various skills to build something that you hope to GTM with.

It's fun, though. I've created a few tools internally that has saved me so much time and developed functionality I would never have even entertained the idea of pre-agentic coding. I hope my career moves toward building solutions in this domain.

ebbi··on Apple reveals 'shocking evidence' from ex-employee's MacBook in OpenAI suit
I can't find the stat, but if memory serves me correctly, NZ over-indexes in CSAM-related crime. It's unfortunate, but it's not always good news down on our little islands.
ebbi··on Apple reveals 'shocking evidence' from ex-employee's MacBook in OpenAI suit
Anything greater than 0, in leadership roles of the organization that should be one the most highly trusted in the country, is a plague.
ebbi··on Apple reveals 'shocking evidence' from ex-employee's MacBook in OpenAI suit
We have a plague here in NZ of top-level Police officers using work-issued devices to access and store CSAM material.

ebbi··on Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look [video]
Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed as well. Based on what I've read on various forums, I'm not holding my breath for any future updates that will unlock higher fps given CPU is already constrained, and PS5 Pro's benefits over the PS5 is GPU.

I guess it will be a typical Rockstar play of buying the PS6 version to get 60fps.

ebbi··on Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look [video]
Yep PS5. But apparently for PS5 Pro as well, it will be capped at 30fps (!).
ebbi··on Where did all the public bathrooms go?
I don't think I quite agree with that.

Virtually all offices I've worked in, the bathrooms have been less than ideally used by colleagues. The people you'd class as 'commons' may not be having public sex, shooting up drugs, but many can be dirty and/or selfish. And this is in an office where cleaners regularly clean the facilities (I'd hazard more frequently than public toilets are cleaned). There's always be pee on the floor, pee on the seat, etc etc.

ebbi··on I were 17, I'd learn how to build LLMs from scratch
As someone who doesn't work in this field (I'm in boring old Accounting/Finance), but would like to learn this field (both to future-proof my skillset, but also because I have an interest in it), would it be wise for me to learn math?

Is it something that's going to be fundamental for future technologies? I always plan to learn, but end up in a death spiral feeling like I'll invest so much time and energy only for the puck to have moved somewhere completely different.

Would gladly accept any advice :)

ebbi··on Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots
If someone stole your food, and then offered to give you crumbs as a peace deal, would you accept it?

You can quantify the number of peace deals as much as you want. But when you don't present the facts and context behind it, you're being purposely deceptive.

ebbi··on Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots
These trite replies also worked 20 years ago, but not today.

People that have read history know your assertion - vaguely suggesting it was the Palestinians that rejected many peace deals - know that this is completely false.
