I build things.
we are entering the world of smaller service firms (1 - 3 people) - where technical chops will even get paid more. the age of cookie-cutter apps is over.
usually in most when engineers tend to create their own tickets - it's for useless shit like improve x, clean up y etc.
very few people have worked in places with high agency - where you work with a higher up & create a feature/product line that has customer impact. startups are one of the few places I can think of with high agency.
my take is everyone in the industry should read grog-brained developer, & no silver bullet before working as a professional.
the other is a mindset change - the best working code is code that's never written as it doesn't have bugs or suffer technical debt. Agentic coding doesn't solve that. Human taste does, which means our job is to reduce the amount of lines we write. agents etc are useful for the filler or bullshit part of our jobs e.g generating tests.
but ultimately I think the whole spec-driven development & agents spitting 100000s of lines era will be looked upon as mass psychosis.
last thing to give an analogy - you don't carve a David statue by gluing together pieces of marble - but you carve it by cutting pieces of a huge block of marble.
very few have gone with the ultra portable and pragmatic fold like razr-ultra.
hopefully apple comes out with a razr-ultra like fold.
so many people sleep on that.
does CTFC have mandate to enforce things nationally - yeah. Does NY have a mandate to stop thing nationwide NO.
however the murkiness with the whole thing is about corruption and having friends, sons of the president as your backers etc - proper procedures are no longer followed.
not shitter, google but fb. some local business don't even have their own sites but maintain an insta / fb page.
though the letdown with Java is the wider ecosystem that makes unwarranted contraptions out of simple things.
but now I think they probably have bitten more than they can chew.
Apple already proved with their unified memory - that as long you have the capacity you can run capable models locally - thereby goes demand for inference if everyone is running some model locally.
For training - Chinese models have proved that you don't need the latest & greatest in Nvidia hardware. Same as TPUs.
only time will tell.
coz yeah good quality material is disappearing on the web fast. the only thing remaining is people building their own private search indexes.
but complexity merchants make them weight as much as the sun.
e.g with the potent use of marijuana that's present these days, excess drinking & lack of reading + dumbing down of population via use of llms.
in the U.K - a polish skilled workers are choosing to remaining in Poland instead of moving to the uk.
for the US - a lot of firms are setting up polish offices - hence when you hear 'a.i' efficiency most of those jobs have moved to Poland or India. Whether it's big tech, big banks and small funded VC startups. What remains in the US are just senior+, staff software engineers.
I guess Deng Xioping said it best - "I don't care if the cat is black, white or purple as long as it catches mice"
my take with all the bots - the web is gonna be a bunch of private walled gardens. with most sites set to no index. you will only discover them via referral from someone real.
invest in your own solar, or other forms of renewable energy - get an ev.
even for an entrepreneur type - you need to understand the technology to get to good enough solution e.g if you don't know shit & just accepted what the llm gave you - u might end up with an unmaintainable mess. the llm might recommend you use some proprietary solution when an open source solution exists that works well for your use case.
plus llms tend to be wordy or make things complex more than necessary.
I try avoid email at first, since most cold emails can be 'spammy'.
whereas Django though it also provides almost similar abstractions in terms of CRUD - it doesn't assume your app will only do CRUD stuff - hence the flexibility e.g there's many apps where you only have a handful of endpoints that are user accessible maybe at most 15, then of course management of users via Django-admin but everything else is non CRUD e.g calling other systems

In the west - you've to be 'blessed' to become an economic player - there's the myth of competition (but someone has to bless that competition) - whereas in the Chinese economy there's no favored party - BYD isn't favored more by the gvt because it's large anymore than the small upstart that's making electric cars.
> isn't Xi and the other party members capable of doing exactly this? - hence I said the CPC can tip the scales once in a while but in terms of free market competition the Chinese economy is more 'free'
