dzader··on BloomTech, previously Lambda School, cuts half of staff
Austen is a terrible person and has been caught lying dozens of times and always hides behind the "we're just good people trying to help others" line to distract from the fact he and the rest of the lambda school staff (which is just all of the un-hired grads so they can boost their already pathetic placement rates) are scammers and frauds.
dzader··on BloomTech, previously Lambda School, cuts half of staff
this is only true of shitty businesses built on scams and lies. company producing results don't need to.
dzader··on BloomTech, previously Lambda School, cuts half of staff
it's a verified scam, your intuition was correct
dzader··on BloomTech, previously Lambda School, cuts half of staff
no, but thousands of people who were simply trying to make a better life for themselves were grifted by Austen and his merry gang of con artists

dzader··on A ‘Grass-Roots’ Campaign to Take Down Amazon Is Funded By Its Biggest Rivals
> And before you talk about how Amazon acts monopolistically by promoting their own or favorite products, it's their platform,

Just like Windows was Microsoft's platform and anyone was free to install whatever browser they wanted... Use Netscape all you want!

dzader··on Update on AB5
> Except Uber doesn't dictate how you use the app, they set parameters on how you can use it.

a distinction without a difference. if you don't follow their parameters they kick you off, which feels a lot like dictating how its used to me

dzader··on Update on AB5
> Does it make me a Microsoft employee if I use Outlook to conduct business?

If Microsoft is the one paying you, and dictating how you use Outlook, what you can say, who you talk to you - then yes, it does.

dzader··on Mayo Clinic to partner with Google
hope they would, yes. trust them to, no.
dzader··on Mayo Clinic to partner with Google
huh TIL. Seems like HIPAA should changed to account for this type of situation as it seems like corporations can't be trusted to do the right thing
dzader··on Mayo Clinic to partner with Google
wouldn't medical data be covered under HIPAA? (I really don't know - it's possible anonymized data etc. might get around those restrictions). I would hope that when it comes to medical data laws would prevent some of the usual privacy concerns around googles data collection.
dzader··on Mayo Clinic to partner with Google
curious why you say that - wouldn't doctors (and thus patients by extension) using these tools stand to benefit as well? (in addition to Google who is definitely getting the most upside here)
dzader··on Apple Watch Series 5
does anyone know how this tech works - this might be worth buying for hiking if it will work in the middle of nowhere
dzader··on Apple TV+ wil launch in November for $4.99/month

dzader··on Running GitHub on Rails 6.0
Yeah, I am extremely excited about this - small sample size but I've worked on a handful of rails apps and I seem to always need a WYSIWYG editor and could never find one I really liked - glad to see it better incorporated!
