duttonw··on AI bots are destroying Open Access
OpenAI has ‘already’ got a browser extension. Who knows when this is ‘enabled’. We already had the ‘honey’ debacle with Amazon/ebay referral link stealing

duttonw··on AWS Code Commit Ceased Onboarding New Customers
Not surprising the ui is not very friendly and getting code in and out when you are not inside the AWS walled garden (need AWS keys) really restricted it
duttonw··on Apple punishes women for same behaviors that get men promoted, lawsuit says

duttonw··on YouTube adapts its policies for the coming surge of AI videos
Sadly I'm one of these peeps that watch the AI gennd content.

The no nonsense of these ai generated content is what gives them the views.

Alot of content on youtuber have people speaking really slowly so that they can fill the required airgap for 'ads' to show.

2x speed works well for the slow speakers as well as with the ai genned content. Many of the 'scripts' they use are actually chinese/korean/japanese translated novels/manga that gets passed the content matching with image movements as well as not even saying the name of the thing they are referencing.

duttonw··on Asahi Linux goes from Apple Silicon port project to macOS bug hunters
other issue is space constraints, if you are at full capicity, you might not be able to afford those extra gb's for said operation.
duttonw··on YouTube's Anti-Adblock and uBlock Origin
the plugin "SponsorBlock for youtube" does a good job of using user submitting skipping of said content, people can even mark certain parts as 'filler' and you can also skip those also.
duttonw··on Covid Lockdowns Were a Giant Experiment. It Was a Failure
They also said they were covid free in a city, but that was only due to taking everyone who possibility had covid out of said city.
duttonw··on Show HN: how I built the largest open database of Australian law
Are you open to pushing one of your Work in Progress(WIP) models to https://ollama.ai/library to show off and let others try it out and provide feedback?
duttonw··on Almost half of Gen Z viewers want less sex on screen, study finds
Plays in the historical days skipped the 'sex scenes'.

When I want to watch a story, all this 'sex' stuff just gets in the way.

The animated tv show 'Captain Fall' went from edgy to just down right ugg. Even 'American Gods' has a good premise but with un needed injection of 'sex scenes' it just slowed down the plot and in the end, just started to skip 10-20mins of of just to move the plot along.

duttonw··on Oh-Auth – Abusing OAuth to take over millions of accounts
Another option is pkce spa, if they did not do 'auth' checks that the jwt token was indeed signed by auth0 or similar, a carefully crafted js alteration would let you take control of the front end. Then you could give it a incorrectly signed token with all the correct details for another user. Usually they would only use the email for matching which makes things even more trivial.

You would hope they verified the signing of the jwt token on the backend, but seems thats too difficult for many dev's.

duttonw··on Oh-Auth – Abusing OAuth to take over millions of accounts
it should be but auth0 was not forcing it to be off, just highly suggesting to turn off that 'feature' unsure now.
duttonw··on Oh-Auth – Abusing OAuth to take over millions of accounts
something something jwt token for implicit flow OAuth I'd guess.
duttonw··on Mazda's DMCA takedown kills a hobbyist's smart car API tool
The lag in general auto dash's has been a problem even in 2014 models at least it stayed exactly the same.

Sadly now its actually worse. (is a bit like iPhones, the software gets slower but you don't notice as the hardware got faster if you stay on the upgrade train)

And with that said even Tesla can't get away from this, but its from their own doing. The 5+ year old cars have Atom CPU's for the infotainment which was zippy in the past but with new features being added. Those systems can't provide the parallel speeds now supplied on the new AMD CPU's and start to lose that instant feeling.

How do I know, I test drove that last batch of Model S's on the 2nd hand market in Australia and the gui is not fluid and it shows when the owners were frustrated using it themselves as well as they all wanted the latest model.

duttonw··on Mitochondrial DNA damage triggers spread of Parkinson’s disease-like pathology
Physionic: Fasting and Overeating - How you Change your Mitochondria. [Study 32] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQBmtzT4VTU Goes into great detail in how abundance of energy causes Mitochondrial to split into smaller pieces and go into high churn (low ATP output) but when in a low energy environment the Mitochondria join into longer chains and actually change how they work. There is other talks in how long chain Mitochondria outputs being used in brain cell inter communication and having said Mitochondria being too small massively inhibits those systems.
duttonw··on SpaceX working with Cloudflare to speed up Starlink service
except for the issue where Elon just on a whim decided to geofence the spaceX usage in Ukraine/Russia conflict to not allow it to work when near the border or in Russia :/ per article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/08/28/elon-musks-sha...
duttonw··on Fancy quartz countertops are killing people who make them, doctors say
usually the damage is done out in the field when they bring it to the consumer and it does not fit, so the dry angle grinder is pulled out lack of protective equipment is available. Most consumers are not around to push them to take it back or the employee balks at carrying the 200kg stone top back down the stairs etc and gets the job done.

You can also give similar issues if you don't wear a mask or not clean up after sanding walls, current cement, cutting gyprock etc etc.

duttonw··on Ford EV Customers to Gain Access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers
There is big $$$ in the charger network in huge handouts from federal government in USA. This will just accelerate the number of chargers being brought online for tesla. Also note that Tesla can still skew the utlliization so that other brands are not notified of available slots at super busy locations.
duttonw··on JobRunr: A library for background processing in Java
pretty gui and no tooling to re-submit failed jobs.
duttonw··on Low Carb Intake Linked to Insulin Resistance
Reviewed the paper, there is no mention of what the fat and protein ratios were and only talked about carb only.

Q:So was the fat intake for the low carb group and which band (% protein) had the elevated insulin resistance?

Since we do know that over eating Protein, causes Protein Poisoning, if intake is more than 35% of your diet.
